Hi I'm Linda

I grew up in Maryland, in the USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to do things family, immediate family and extended family! Hobbies include; camping, gardening, reading (LDS fiction, fiction and non=fiction alike), cooking, and believe it or not, mowing the lawn. I love to learn new things! I try to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and am kind of a foodie.

Why I am a Mormon

We were tracted out - meaning that LDS missinaries just knocked on our door - years ago while we were living in the mid-western USA. I grew up living on the East Coast of the USm and had belonged to a couple of Protestant religions. I had had questions and never gotten what felt like the correct answers until the visits with the young missionaries. We joined the Church and love the Gospel, and the way of life it brings with it.

How I live my faith

I have served in the LDS Church, and in the various places we have lived, to try to improve people's level of emergency preparedness. I usually tell people to learn to camp, because that is how you may have to live in a real emergency! Food storage, gardening, food preservation all kinds of preparedness activities - those are real parts of our everyday lifestyle I have been the camp director for groups of teenaged girls and love it! I also have served in the nursery, mostly with 2 and 3 years old children and in inteaching other ages of children, too. They are all so dear and loveable. I love being a Visiting Teacher and it is a wonderful way to get to know ladies in my ward (the congregation we belong to) that I would probably never get to know otherwise! I have served in all the organizations in the LDS Church possible, and love them all!

What is the Relief Society?

Linda
It is the womem's organization in the LDS Church. It is a wonderful way to get to know the ladies in your ward or branch (congregation) better. We are able help and be friends as we serve each other, our families, and our communities. We are "sisters" and it really feels like family to me. We get together to just have fun, or at other times to achieve a specific purpose like making a quilt for someone who needs it, assembling kits that are used to provide "Humanitarian Service" worldwide. Sometimes we just learn more about a hobby, like sewing or making items for our homes or family. It is such a great way to interact with the women in our ward! Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Linda
It is a Health code, giving us the program of how to eat and other lifestyle factors. It helps us to be happier and healthier. It gives us boundaries, and that makes it SO easy, once you learn them and commit to living them. Show more Show less
