Hi I'm JoLynn (Blomstedt) Dominguez

I'm a Mormon and proud of it!! The Church has brought so much joy to my life. I can't imagine life without it!

About Me

I am a mother of 4 amazing children. They are my world. I am currently going through a divorce. This has been devastating, but the Lord, family and friends are pulling me through. Durring this tragic time I have felt the Lord carrying me and strengthen me more than ever in my life. I enjoy dancing, singing, good books, hiking, exercising, shopping, hanging out with good friends and family, and doing pretty much anything that's fun. I really just enjoy life and believe you can have fun doing almost anything, even dishes and laundry. I'm a cosmetologist and really enjoy being creative and spending time with my clients. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my kids. They are the most precious gift I have been given on this Earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a child I didn't realize how lucky I was. My parents were pretty strict growing up and with 8 children I think you'd have to be. They always took us to church and taught us to serve others and be grateful for what we had. Most importantly, they taught us to love God and what his plan meant for us. Of course I had to develop my own testimony eventually and as a teenager I had a dear friend that had a rough family life. She began coming to church with me and then decided to take the missionary discussions. As we both sat through several missionary discussions it was like they were teaching me instead of her. I knew about most of what they were teaching, I had heard it all growing up, but this time was different. I thought these things were true before, but as I listened and the Holy Ghost confirmed in my heart, I knew these things were true. I read the Book of Mormon again with my friend and took the challenge to pray about it. I think I expected some miraculous experience, like what Joseph Smith had. Very soon I realized that when you know something is true already, you don't need a miracle. The Lord gives you what you need, not always what you want. I felt a burning in my heart as I prayed and realized that's all I needed. I knew without a doubt that the Book of Mormon was a true book of scripture and that by following the things it teaches, along with the Bible, I would be the kind of person Heavenly Father wants me to be. The part I didn't expect was the joy the gospel would bring into my life. I continue to be amazed at how much Heavenly Father loves each of us and knows each of our circumstances. I am just beginning to understand his love and that the whole purpose of the gospel and Jesus Christ is to show us how to love.

How I live my faith

I am very lucky, because I live in a tiny little church group called a Branch and there are many positions that need to be filled to keep it going. I get to teach the youth sunday school, which has been very rewarding. I get to use what little talent I have at the piano playing for the primary age children. I set up an Activity days (a younger girl's program) so my daughter can participate in that and then have been asked to help out in the webelos cubscout program for my son's group. I love doing things with the children and teaching them about Heavenly Father and how much he loves us. I help out at the school my children attend when I can. I'm very blessed to have my parents so close to help me juggle my children and the different activities we are involved in.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

JoLynn (Blomstedt) Dominguez
As I have read the Book of Mormon this year and read again about the amazing people that wrote on and preserved this book, I have grown to love each and everyone of them. They were men in America, that stood firm in their faith and endured horrible things and death to bring this book forward. They wrote down the things they felt inspired by God to write so that we could have these wonderful Gospel Truths. These were real men that were willing to give up everything because they believed in God and wanted to help others to come to the knowledge of his goodness. The things they wrote were for us, for our day to give us the fullness of the Gospel. I love this book and those men for their sacrifice. Show more Show less
