Hi I'm Darian

I'm a chemistry major with an emphasis on medicine. I'm an author. I'm an artist. I'm a calligrapher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to bike, snowboard, camp, hike, and enjoy nature. I love chemistry and medicine. I enjoy helping people. I am writing a novel. I draw as a hobby and can play the violin, piano, and guitar. I am a calligraphist. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I'm currently serving a mission in Brazil.

Why I am a Mormon

I was originally a protestant christian living in California. I didn't believe in this church, but I've always believed in God. When I moved to Utah I was a very upset child. All I could see was the negative. One of my LDS leaders and a friend helped show me a different view of the world. They taught me through love and understanding that happiness comes from within. It is not based on your circumstances. They brought joy into my life that was previously consumed with despair and depression. The light they carried with them shone through my deepest darkness. It touched my soul. I wanted that light too. I could see how happy they always were and I wanted that more than anything. So one morning, I knelt before the Lord and asked him what to do. I asked him to guide me and show me if this church was true. I cannot describe the feeling that overcame me. There was no longer room for doubt. This is the only true church who holds the power of God himself, to act in His name. I owe who I am today to a man and a boy who didn't know that they were being missionaries. They saved not only my soul, but my life here as well.

How I live my faith

Faith is an interesting word. "To hope for things which are not seen, which are true." This kind of hope is what has kept me alive for most of my life. There were days when all that got me out of bed in the morning was the thought that there was something out there worth doing. That by getting up I might find a reason to keep living. For a while, I lived in a very dark personal depression. Nobody knew about it but me. Looking back, I can see that God was just preparing me to do the work he has for me. I learned the power of will, and I learned to love people, because we can't always tell what is going on in their life. I learned that life is darkest just before something wonderful happens. I learned that truth is constant, no matter how the world changes. I learned that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the only church that can answer all of the questions I had. I know this church is true, and I want others to know it. I live my faith by living for others.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes, it's the biggest section of our scripture combinations. The New Testament is one of my favorite sections in the scriptures. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

If there was a natural disaster that put hundreds of people out of there homes and cut off food and water supply, wouldn't it be nice to have those things in order to provide for your family? And maybe even enough to share with others and alleviate their suffering. It's like insurance. You hope you never need it, but it's there for when you do. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

It's like a health code. If you've ever worked somewhere that handles food, you have to get your food handlers permit that says you know how to be safe with food to avoid getting people sick. The Word of Wisdom is like a health permit for ourselves. It tells us what we should do to keep ourselves healthy. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We worship God, just like all Christians do. Joseph Smith is the founder of our church and our first prophet. We don't worship prophets. We listen to them. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! Let me say it again, YES! That is a key principle of our religion. That families can last forever. When we are married in our temples, we are sealed together for all time and eternity. Sealed, like vacuum-packed. And the best part? It lasts forever! You can be with the ones you love for ever! Isn't that amazing! Show more Show less
