Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a college student studying music education. Music is a huge part of my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student and I am studying music education. I play the clarinet and I am one of the drum majors for BYU's marching band. It has been a blast! I definitely love music, but I'm also into a lot of other things like longboarding and woodworking. Over the summer I built my own longboard, and now I'm working on building a dining room table for my future home. It's been fun to be able to create my own things. I'm also learning sign language, and I love it! I love learning about the deaf community and their culture. It's been really fun to be able to study music and deafness at the same time because they are on such opposite ends of the spectrum. Basically, I'm a musician, a longboarder, a builder, a want-to-be deaf person, and (of course) I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, so I was raised to be a Mormon. However, that's not why I'm a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because it is so much more than just a religion--it is a lifestyle. Mormons focus on developing their relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ which changes their heart, causing them to act righteously. It is a chain reaction. They strengthen their testimony of the gospel which changes their hearts which then causes them to live what they believe. I love that. They don't just go to church on Sundays, they actually live what they learn. That's why I'm a Mormon. I want to be part of a church that teaches doctrine so powerful that it changes people from the inside. I am so, so grateful that I am a Mormon. I'm so grateful to have the fulness of the true gospel in my life. I would be completely lost if I didn't have the gospel to guide me and answer all of my questions. I know that Heavenly Father is real, and that He loves me. Every time I pray, He is listening and He will watch over me. I love the gospel, and I can't say it enough. I just love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. I live my faith through consistent prayer and scripture study. I live it through my determination to always live a clean life. My current calling is a Sunbeam Teacher and I live my faith by preparing lessons and having the courage to teach these lessons to a group of 3-4 year-olds. I am also a visiting teacher and live it by visiting the other sisters in my ward. I live my faith every time I turn down something that could be harmful to me physically or spiritually. I live it by continually striving to strengthen my testimony of Christ so that I can follow in His footsteps. I live my faith by letting it change my heart so I can become like Christ.
