Hi I'm Rebecca Young

Colorado bread, Sewing enthusiast, Soon-to-be BYU Grad

About Me

I am a young student trying to figure life out while doing the things I love! I returned from my 18-month mission to Sweden over a year ago and have since developed a travel bug. I will travel to London and Paris for a Fashion and Design Study Abroad this coming April. I graduate from BYU this August... feeling simultaneously thrilled and terrified! I currently teach clothing construction at BYU and recently began teaching smaller sewing classes in Salt Lake. Between sewing projects, school, work, church, and my beloved rec center, I fit in time to talk to my family, who all encourage me to have more fun. But I love keeping busy and planning my days in order to stay sane!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by two of the most faithful parents. They taught me correct principles and to always do those things that would create and strengthen my testimony of the true gospel. They created a foundation that I could rely on while I was still developing my own testimony. It was through personal scripture study, strong examples, a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father, and spiritual experiences that I gained my own testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It did not come in one miraculous moment, but rather overtime as I gained knowledge and and understanding of the love of a Father in Heaven and an atoning Savior. I'm still learning about it, and will never cease to be amazed by the principles of the Gospel. Being Mormon is more than simply just a part of me, it is who I am entirely. I daughter of a Heavenly Father who sacrificed his son so that I could return to live with him again. I am imperfect, no matter how hard I try, but I keep trying because I want to be like my Savior. I want to do everything in my power to be able to partake of those blessings by living a life He would have me live.

How I live my faith

This is probably the busiest my life has ever been. Being a full-time student, juggling 3 part-time jobs, serving in my Relief Society, and trying to have a social life is certainly no piece of cake. Yet, I've found if I make prayer, reading my scriptures, writing in my journal, attending church, and keeping the sabbath day holy all priorities, some how Heavenly Father makes it work. He truly does multiply our time. I know that when I make an effort to show Him how much I love Him and that I am trying to follow my Savior, He recognizes my humble efforts and blesses me. And no matter how many times I forget those little things, He gives me endless second chances. I need Christ's atonement daily.
