Hi I'm Raquel

I'm a Sign Language Interpreter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 children, 3 adoptive, 2 biological. I divorced a few years ago and now I am re-married. I play piano and I love to host parties at my house with my family. It took me 25 years to finish an MBA.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon by my mother who was baptized at age 15 in Mexico. The church helps me raise my children by providing wholesome activities for them and great teachers to reinforce what I teach them at home. I love the teachings of the church and how it helps me be a better wife and mother and daughter of God.

How I live my faith

I take my daughter to seminary every morning at 6 a.m. before going to work. We attend church every Sunday and my daughters attend on Wednesday nights for Young Women activities. I interpret every Sunday at church into Sign Language for deaf members. I also teach an institute class on Tuesdays for the deaf which I find very rewarding.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Faith in Jesus Christ has helped my husband and I go through difficult times in our marriage because one of the principles Christ teaches is the need for us to forgive everyone their trespasses against us as He, Christ, forgives us. As anyone who is married can attest to, marriage requires forgiveness all the time. No one is perfect and those closes to us seem to know how to annoy us the most. Being able to forgive is crucial to a marriage relationship and the Lord Jesus Christ shows us how he forgave those who hurt him as we must forgive those who hurt us. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

I personally served a mission when I was 21, many years ago. I was not required to serve but I always felt a desire to go and I did go to California to serve among the Deaf. My mission has blessed me throughout my life as it gave me a career by knowing Sign Language, just an added benefit of having served the Lord. I wish all my children would serve missions for their benefit and the benefit of the people they will meet. I love missionaries for their service and love for Christ. Show more Show less
