Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and I work in accounting and finance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy all types of sports, but really enjoy hockey, football and golf. I am a huge fan of the Penguins, Steelers and even the Pittsburgh Pirates. I also enjoy hunting and fishing. I enjoy being home and spending time with my family. I love America and the freedoms that we enjoy in this country and appreciate the service of those in the military. I believe in getting a good education and working hard at whatever vocation you choose.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of how close it has brought me to Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. I noticed a great difference when my family joined the church and began to live according to the commandments. I used to think that the commandments were just suggestions and that they were not that important to follow. I came to learn that the commandments were God's way of keeping us safe and giving us direction. I know that I fall short, but with Heavenly Father's help, each day I can do a little better and be a better person. I served as a full time missionary for the church and I while doing that service I asked myself the question if what I was doing was right? While reading the scriptures one day I came to know that what I was doing was right and that Heavenly Father knew who I was and that I was important to Him. I came to know that He has a plan for His children and that Jesus Christ is the most important part of that plan. I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins and is helping me through this life by giving me proper perspective and guidance. I also know because of His sacrafice that I will have the opportunity to live with him after this life.

How I live my faith

I work closely with the Bishop of the Beaver Valley congregation. I do many different tasks that he may assign me, for instance I work closely with the young children ages 3 - 11 and with the youth group ages 14 - 16. I live my faith by attending church each week and doing my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ's teachings. I try with my family to read from the scriptures and to pray to my Heavenly Father each day. We also try to have a family night once each week, where we can learn the gospel and just enjoy some time together.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Steve
The Bible is a testament of Jesus Christ, his divine mission and teachings. As members of the church we love the Bible and the many faith promoting stories and teachings that help us draw closer to our Savior. The Bible helps us to understand God's love for each of us and testifies of Jesus' divine teachings, His suffering in Gethsamane and His glorious resurrection. We are thankful for the words, teachings and doctrine that have been preserved in the Holy Bible. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Steve
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we do not worship Joseph Smith. I have never done so at church or at any other place. We do have great respect for Joseph Smith because of his role as a prophet in restoring all of the truths of the gospel and the priesthood back to the earth. We worship God the Eternal Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
