Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in upstate New York, I'm serving a mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports! I love playing sports, watching sports; everything about them! In high school I played football, volleyball, and I ran track. I'm a big fan of watching professional football games (Go Panthers!). I also really like movies. I am a huge Superman fan, and I'm not afraid to admit it! I was going to college, and I had a lot of fun doing that! Now I'm serving on a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormon church. Once I return home, I'll pick up where I left off and finish school.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know this church is true. I know this because I read the Book of Mormon and came to know of it's truth and divinity as I read the inspired words it contains. Then I prayed sincerely to know of a surety. I have seen too many miracles to ever deny the truthfulness of this church, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm also a Mormon quite simply because I want to be! My parents were both members of the church when I was born, so I grew up being taught the principles and morals, etc. that are outlined by the Gospel of Christ. This fostered in me a desire to be the best person I can be by following the example of Christ. My religion has played a big role in my life up to this point and I'm sure it will continue to affect me positively in every facet of my life. I have lived a richly blessed life thus far and I am eternally grateful to my Heavenly Father for that. As a Mormon missionary I'm trying to bring the happiness I have felt to others lives so that they might feel the way I have felt and still feel. I don't know where I would be, or what kind of person I would be without this church in my life. I am filled with gratitude to be so blessed.

How I live my faith

Before I left for my mission I lived my faith in a bunch of different ways. I was often involved in service projects organized by the church to aid the community and anyone who needed a helping hand. I was also actively involved in unplanned acts of service. I followed Jesus Christ's example as I went about trying doing good at every opportunity that arose.I have always tried to be honest with my fellow man and to treat others as I would have them treat me. The most obvious way that I'm living my faith is through my service as a full-time missionary. I'm living and teaching the Gospel of Christ around the clock while I serve the people in my mission. I stand as a personal witness that Jesus is the Christ, and follow His example as I go about doing good and preaching His gospel. Gospel means "good news", so I am spreading the message of good news as a missionary. That message is that the true church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through a prophet. The church is led by a living prophet today who receives revelation from God. Our Father in heaven loves us and still speaks to us. I do everything in my power to be an example to those around me of what a good Christian life is. Serving others is how I live my faith and show my love for God.
