Hi I'm Kyra

I grew up in Utah in the United States. I sing, play the piano, and love to laugh. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love to learn! I especially love learning about music, the arts, and science (biology and human anatomy and physiology)! I am fascinated by people and how they act and react in different situations. I love to laugh and smile and be happy. I honestly and truly believe that laughter is one of the greatest medicines. I enjoy cooking and watching movies and playing with my dogs and hiking and playing soccer and volleyball. I've completed one semester of college but because of high school credits I am technically in the middle of my sophomore year and I am loving every second of it! I collect windchimes and hang them on the ceiling of my room (up to...32 I think) and anything with bright colors, particularly yellow, is automatically a favorite. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many, many reasons. I have never felt so sure about or comfortable with anything in my life until I realized for myself that this church was true. Just because I was born into this church didn't mean I was born with a testimony of it. My testimony of the truth of this gospel has grown over the years, especially these last few. Heavenly Father is there and he listens and he answers prayers and he loves us so much! He lets us make choices, some of which may be difficult for us, so we can learn and grow while we are here on this earth. Everything testifies of Him and his son, Jesus Christ. How can you look at a newborn baby, or the beauty of a forest, or an ocean, or a tender moment shared between husband or wife or shared between family members and NOT know that there was an all-powerful being out there looking out for us? He rejoices with us, he cries with us, and he comforts us when it feels like all is lost in this world. He knows EVERYTHING we are going through and will go through and he still loves us despite our mistakes. He wants us to return home so bad... and he doesn't want to lose a single one of us, his children. He needs us to touch the lives of others and he sends others to touch our lives in return. He has sent us the Book of Mormon as another testament of his son, Jesus Christ, to help us come to know him and his son. That book, that true and divine record, has changed my life forever. It took years for me to even start understanding it because I was young and I didn't know what to look for... but I eventually let the spirit touch my heart and guide my thoughts and actions until I finally realized for myself how amazing and undoubtedly true it all is. Living this gospel and reading the scriptures every day is the best decision that I make every morning. It changes lives for the better. I would know. It changed mine. :)

How I live my faith

Since I just got back from college I was released from my calling as Co-Home Evening Coordinator. I basically just coordinated all the home evening (a time when families, or groups of single adults, get together to teach gospel principles and enjoy each others company) groups in my ward and helped with attendance and such. I was called on December 27, 2012 to serve in the Peru Lima North LDS mission and I am currently at the MTC receiving my training. I have a week and a half left (or until my VISA comes through) here and I can't wait to faithfully bring the gospel to the wonderful people in Peru for the next 18 months!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

You don't have to do much to increase your faith. Faith builds a little bit at a time as we nourish it day by day. By following God's commandments and trying to be like him we can increase our faith in him. Vanity, pride, foolishness, selfishness, being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and devout interest in the wisdom of the world can bring down your faith. Follow Christ. Follow his example. Strive to develop the qualities that he possesses and share them with the world! Recognize his hand in all things and nourish your seed of faith. Show more Show less
