Hi I'm William Mckay Cutler

I was born in Salt Lake City Utah, I was on a suicide prevention unit for three years, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I was one of those early bloomers when it came to my physical attributes. I had reached my adult heigth of 5'9" in the eigth grade! So I did the only sensible thing. I played Football! I was lucky enough to play for eleven years, was team captain of my highschool team, and went All Region as a defensive Lineman at 5'9", 215 lbs. Here's a few things about me. I love old Jazz and Swing, Soul, Country, and Rock music. I write Poetry from time to time, and yes it's still true that I played football, so quit asking. I have a wonderful family; two brothers, a caring mom, and a strong father. I was that guy who didn't like it when you cursed infront of him when I was younger. I don't much mind it anymore, but I was so bad that I told one of the Varsity coaches to watch his mouth when I was a sophmore. That was a sketchy day... I served a full time mission of two years in Tampico Mexico. I am currently working part time and studying full time.

Why I am a Mormon

My life has always been the same; get good grades, stay away from drugs, sex, and alcohol, always listen to my parents. For a long time, it was easy, until highschool. I fell in love with a girl who didn't feel the same about me, and I destroyed myself emotionally over it. I was just a young guy who didn't know a lot about life, but I let this push me down into a hole. I still went to church and kept all my covenants, but it all seemed pretty hollow compared to what it had been. It wasn't the event itself that was hurting me, it was feelings of worthlessness that refused to go away. I felt that it was all my fault that I couldn't make her love me back, like there was something wrong with me, and if someone as loving and caring as she was couldn't love me, then who could? I didn't do anything about these feelings for an entire year, because I figured I deserved them. The feelings became so bad that there were a couple weeks of my life that I was considering suicide. I don't know, I just knew that I had to keep reading my scriptures and praying to my Heavenly Father. Somehow, after a few months of this, the feelings of worthlessness started to go away. And gradually, Heavenly Father healed me. I started to remember that the worth of souls is great in the eyes of God. And if He could forgive Saul for persecuting His saints and locking them up in prision, then maybe I could forgive myself and let God make something out of me. And boy did he. :) I served as a full time missionary for two years in Tampico Mexico. I am now serving in my community and ward as a ward mission leader and temple worker.

How I live my faith

Prayer is a big one that I do daily. I pray when I wake up, go to sleep, and to bless the food that I eat. I also do my best to remember to read the Book of Mormon every day. When I was down at Snow College, I was an assistant to my ward Bishop (or pastor). I made calls and set up appointments for the Bishop and helped him to give callings to other people in the ward. I completed a two year mission in Tampico Mexico, and am currently serving in my community and ward as a ward mission leader and temple worker.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

William Mckay Cutler
Yes I do. I believe that God has called prophets in our day to guide us through these last days before Jesus Christ's second coming. I've heard his words and I believe them. Thomas S. Monsen is the chosen prophet of god in these latter days. Show more Show less

What is faith?

William Mckay Cutler
I was always taught that faith is acting on something that you believe. It's like going to bed believing that the sun will come up tomorrow. Do you know for sure? Not really, but you have a huge amount of evidence to support that you believe that the sun will come up tomorrow. So you act on it! You make plans and mentally prepare yourself to do all the things that you assume you'll be able to do as long as the sun does indeed come up. It is the same with faith. I believe in Jesus Christ like I believe that the sun will rise again tomorrow. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

William Mckay Cutler
Always have faith in Jesus. Human beings have a tendency of failing and falling short of the expectations that we have for them. But Jesus will never do that. He will never leave us completely alone as long as we seek him in faith. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

William Mckay Cutler
Because the children of god rejected the gospel of Jesus Christ, and killed his apostles, God took the authority of the priesthood from the earth. That authority, that was used by the apostles to heal the sick and cast out devils has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. Now, the authority to baptise and give the gift of the Holy Ghost has been given again to the children of men. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

William Mckay Cutler
The Book of Mormon was written by men who had something called the gift of revelation. That means that they understood what God means when he speaks to men. Because of that, they could write God's word in a way that you and I can understand. These men are known as prophets, and lived on the American continent before and after the time of Christ's ministry upon the earth. And it is just about the most important thing to me in my life. The only thing that can compete with it as far as books go is the bible. They both go hand in hand to help to know one thing--that God lives, loves us, and that Jesus really was, and is the Christ.
