Hi I'm Marissa

I love life, music, dancing, running, math, nature, kids, and being a Mormon!

About Me

Growing up in a small town taught me to love the simple things life has to offer. The juiciness of a freshly picked apricot, the smell of recently mowed grass, the sound of rain on a rooftop, and beautiful summer morning runs along dirt roads and mountain trails. I love math! I am convinced that everyone can learn math if they put their mind to it! I'm studying Elementary Education and look forward to sharing this passion with each child and a general love for learning. There are so many wonderful things about the world around us that have been given to us to study and improve ourselves. Along with learning, music, hiking, dancing, and running are all things that have enriched my life and helped me come closer to God. Currently I'm serving as a full time missionary in one of the most beautiful parts of the world-Alaska! When I was just over eight months into my mission I got a MRI for pain I was having and was devastated to learn I had a ruptured disc in my back that would require surgery. Given the circumstances, my mission president felt it would be best if I flew home for the surgery and recovery. Reluctant, but understanding, I boarded the plane leaving a piece of my heart in Alaska. Through a series of miracles I was back to Alaska seven weeks from the day I left. I'm so grateful to be back sharing message of the restored gospel and for the strength, physically and emotionally, Heavenly Father blessed me with! Being a missionary is the best!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member and felt God's love for me early in my life. The examples of my parents and their devotion to the gospel always inspired me to be a little better, and improve every day. I was blessed with an amazing family that have always proved to be incredible examples to me in their testimonies. As I grew older the desire to know for myself if this church is true continued to build. My testimony of this gospel didn't happen overnight but through simple daily actions-praying and reading from The Book of Mormon. It was through the pages of the Book of Mormon that my full knowledge and understanding of this gospel was founded. I know the Book of Mormon is true, that it was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and the gospel of Jesus Christ is real. I cannot ever deny that power, and I will not. I know this church is true and I love it.

How I live my faith

Through daily spiritual nourishment, I am building on my faith every day. I love reading the Book of Mormon and brings daily light and strength to continue enduring each day. I also live my faith through following Christ's example with the people I'm blessed to meet. I constantly pray for an opportunity to serve people both physically and spiritually, as He would. With a knowledge that we are all children of God, it's not hard to quickly love the people around me!
