Hi I'm Julie Murdock

I am a wife of a wonderful man and mother of 10 children. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mother and a Grandmother and a daughter and most of my time is spent in those roles with my wonderful family. My mother is 99 years old and she is amazing. I spend a lot of time with her and so do all of my children. It doesn't matter what we are doing because if we are together, we are having a lot of fun. I have ten children, 7 daughters and three sons. The seven oldest are married and all of them have at least two children. We have 22 grandchildren and two on the way. They are the joy in my life. We all love the sun so swimming is a favorite pastime. I love sports, all of my children have competed in competitive sports, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball. Since there are 10 of them, I have spent much of my life spectating and enjoying watching them play. I love watching tennis and I used to love to play tennis until I injured my shoulder. I also love politics and current events. I spend a lot of time driving and so I listen to talk radio while I am in my car. It totally entertains me and stresses me at the same time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into the church so I received gospel teachings as a child. I always believed the church was true because it just made sense to me but it was not until I was attending BYU that I really received a lasting testimony. I had man wonderful teachers that taught with the spirit and that spirit testified to me that I was learning truth. Life is so much easier to live when you know what is true. It is also so much more enjoyable. Knowing that the church is true helps me in setting priorities. I always ask myself, "Does this have eternal consequences?" If the answer is no, then it is not worth fretting over. I find so much peace in knowing that our Savior, Jesus Christ Loved us enough to atone for our sins and sicknesses, and our mistakes. I have learned that God has given us commandments because he loves us and he wants us to be happy now and forever. I feel eternally grateful for my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I served a full time mission when I was young and I have spent almost all of my church service in the last 35 years teaching the youth of the church. I have taught Sunday school and young women's and primary and cub scouts. I love kids and I especially love teaching teenagers. Right now I am teaching the 17 and 18 year olds in Sunday School. Most of them are preparing to serve missions so it is so much fun helping them prepare for that experience. I love to find how gospel principles apply in my everyday life so that I can illustrate the principles of the gospel in my teaching. I am very conscious about being a good example to others in everything that I do. I know that how I act and what I say is judged by others and I would never want anyone to have a bad opinion of the church because of my actions. Living the gospel gives me joy even when life can be difficult or disappointing or even tragic. It is during those times that I feel the closest to my Heavenly Father and I feel his love and support.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Julie Murdock
Reading the Book of Mormon is the key to knowing that the Church is true. The Book of Mormon has a promise in the last Chapter that says that if you read these things and ponder them with a sincere heart, and real intent having faith in Christ, that the Lord will manifest the truth of it through the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost reveals the truth of all things. He has the most amazing power to speak to our minds and hearts and when you feel it, you know truth and that is the most wonderful feeling in the world. When you come to know that the Book of Mormon is true, then you know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet because the Book was translated by him. You also will know that Jesus is The Christ and our redeemer because that is what the Book teaches. You also will know that The Church of Jesus Christ is the only True Church on the Earth because it is the Church that has the Book of Mormon. When you know these things, you have a testimony of the Gospel. Show more Show less
