Hi I'm Beth Reynolds

I am the mother of four beautiful and talented daughters, I work on genealogy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

While traveling through the USA I stopped in Salt Lake City. My parents had always taught me that if things weren't going well, I should open the Bible and the Lord would lift my spirits. Being 15 years old, a female, and far from home made for a bad day so I reached for the "Gideon Bible" in the hotel nightstand - Instead my hand touched a Book of Mormon and I immediately felt uplifted, excited, and fulfilled. At 15, I didn't understand the workings of the Holy Ghost, but I knew something special was in that book. Being raised correctly, I would never have taken the book and so I spent the next 21 years looking for "Mormons" to get a copy of that book for myself and see what it was all about. From 1960 through 1980 there was no listing in the phonebooks for "Mormon" and I didn't know the name of the Church was really The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Finally in August of 1980 some missionaries stopped at my door. I asked to join their Church that day and of course they said "No" and I began the lessons. As the years have progressed I have found that I was right, all the answers to all the questions I had as a child were right there in that Book of Mormon. I knew it was true because the Holy Spirit had told me so and how do you argue with that?

Why I am a Mormon

There is a scripture in the Book of Mormon that says if it is good and teaches you to believe in Jesus Christ and do good works, then it is of God. I love that scripture because when people make comments about us not being Christians I remember that scripture and know that they just don't understand what we believe. I don't just think that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth at this time, I have the sure knowledge from the Holy Spirit that it is true. Anyone can receive this knowledge for themselves - just read it and then ask the Lord whether or not it is true.

How I live my faith

I try my best to be the kind of person the scriptures tell us to be. It definitely isn't easy, and I have a lot of garbage and habits from before I found the Church. But I work at it each day, as the scriptures say, line upon line, precept upon precept, trying to get better. The Book of Mormon explains what Christ and Heavenly Father expect of me in plain and simple language. It can't be twisted or misconstrued. It says it like it is and so I know what I need to do to improve. I have found that if I follow Christ's plan daily, by praying, reading and pondering my scriptures, following His commandments, and giving and helping others, my life is better, happier, more fulfilling, and I do find joy each day just as Christ promised me.
