Hi I'm Alisha Scott

I'm a Canadian, a soccer player, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Canadian living in the heat of Arizona. I can escape that heat though when I go to school at BYU-Idaho. I'm on my fourth semester there studying therapeutic recreation, but have taken a break to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be serving in Leeds, England! I love to play soccer and coached soccer up at BYU-I. I draw in my free time and enjoy anything outdoors. I come from a big family of 8, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Family and friends is a big part of my life. I have tons of friends, but only have a handful of close ones. My family is the most important and I love knowing that through the gospel I can live with them eternally. I love my life and can't wait to serve my mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life in so many ways. I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. Though it wasn't until a couple years ago that I came to truly believe what I had been taught since I was little. When you're younger, you go off of your parents testimony. As you get older, you develop beliefs of your own and you have to find out for yourself the truthfulness of the gospel. After my brother got home from his mission in Mexico he was a different person. He was happy and content with his life, and I wanted that. I started reading the Book of Mormon again. Instead of just trying to get through it, I really read it. I looked for things to help me in my life. I found that as I prayed for answers and read the Book of Mormon, those answers came. I felt peace and happiness when I read, and I knew what I was reading was true. Now I am preparing to serve a mission of my own in Leeds, England. I want to teach people about the gospel and have them feel the same happiness I now feel. I know this church and the Book of Mormon are true. I know if you want to gain a testimony of your own then you need to read the Book of Mormon and ask if it is true. If you ask in faith, believing the answer will come to you, then it will.

How I live my faith

In the church, we receive callings. My calling up at school was to be a ward missionary. As a ward missionary, I was able to attend the missionary preparation class that was offered during church and occasionally teach students about the gospel. I loved being a ward missionary as it helped prepare me for my own mission. Now that I am home from school I do not have a calling, but I still help out in my home ward by doing service. Recently, I helped clean the chapel that my ward attends for meetings. I also do visiting teaching in my ward. Visiting teaching gives me the opportunity to visit other sisters in my ward with a companion. It is my job to see if they need any service, and sometimes I will share a message with them. I do my best to read my scriptures daily and pray. Prayer is very important to me. I know it is a way I can communicate with my Father in Heaven, and I know He hears and answers my prayers.
