Hi I'm Bailey Dykes

I sometimes pretend to be a gangster. I like to smile and love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm pretty spontaneous and am up for trying new things, meeting new people, eating new foods, and experiencing life in the directions God takes me. I love to dance, go shooting, scrapbook, snowboard, do photography, play sports, or do anything that involves friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to different churches looking for truth, but struggled a lot along the way. I met some great people, had some fun experiences, but still something was missing. In my senior year of high school I met some people who attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At first I didn't want anything to do with it, and heard rumors about "crazy Mormons"and their beliefs. I noticed something different about them though, and what great people they were, and I sought after the light they carried with them. After a certain point, I had questions and wanted to know more about their beliefs. I studied it out, read the scriptures, and prayed sincerely to ask God for MYSELF if the Book of Mormon was true. It was later on I received a testimony of the restored gospel and have been an active member ever since! Through the atonement of Christ, my nature has been changed, and I am happier than ever!!! I will be serving a mission soon to serve the Lord and help others to find the same joy and freedom that I have found in following the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

It's easy to live what you love! When you make the commitment to keep the commandments, and you strive to do so, it only gets easier over time. You feel the love of God and of the Savior so strongly when you draw nearer unto them. I also like to live by my faith by participating in/organizing church activities, or teaching and speaking in ways that can help others come to Christ. I've found that every time I seek to help others, I often find answers to my own prayers. Living by God's will instead of my own has brought tremendous blessings and it's been much better than the plan I would've tried to create for myself.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Bailey Dykes
God, throughout time, has given the prophets authority to act in His name, which is called the priesthood. There are two divisions; the Aaronic (named after Aaron in the Old Testament) and the Melchizedek (named after Melchizedek also in the Old Testament). The priesthood is used to perform ordinances under the direction of God. Just like a drivers license must be given from the DMV, a baptism must be done by the proper authority. Somebody cannot just take a piece of paper and slap a picture with their name on it and be allowed to drive... As the same with baptism, it can not be performed in any random way or by random person. It must be done with the priesthood, which John the Baptist had when he baptized Jesus Christ, which is the same priesthood we have in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints today.
