Hi I'm Juan Herrera

I grew up in the little town of Basin City Washington. I was recently called to serve as a Missionary! I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Juan and I am from Washington, I was going to college and working for an Apple Cider company when I was recently called to serve as a Missionary in Chile in South America. I am so Excited to go and serve! I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints its been about 2 years since I joined and the blessings are so Great! Although I'm the only member of my family I am very Happy to be in this wonderful Church. I like spending time with my family, going to work, paint balling, going to the gym, or just on a jog. I love being outdoors, but also staying in sometimes and enjoying a good movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church and its been a little over two years since I joined. When I was in high school my friends would talk to me about the church and would invite me to their house to be taught, but I wasn't very interested in what they were trying to do, they even gave me a Book of Mormon. I remember that I simply placed the Book of Mormon on a shelf in my closet thinking that I would never read it or hold it again. Time went by and my friends started to see I wasn't interested so they stopped trying to get me to listen to them. I was always raised in a Christian home and was taught by my parents good from bad, this is why I remember feeling really guilty when I started to join in with the wrong crowd in school. I remember that it came to a point where I told my self "Ok you need to stop this juan it is not good" and I would go to church with my parents(they are not members) but I didnt feel any different, so I went home one day and remembered the things my friends had taught me about repentance and how Jesus could help. But I wondered why he had not helped since I would go to church with my parents and prayed that he would forgive me and this feeling wouldnt go away. So I remembered I went and got the Book of Mormon from my closet and opened it to the pictures in the front of the book, the picture of Jesus with the Nephites. So I read it and I remember feeling soo good inside and I even felt like crying. So I knelt down and prayed to know if it was true like my friends had previously taught me. I felt so good after that, I wanted to know more, so I called the missionary's in my area and they were happy to help. So not long after that I was baptized. I think it was the best decision I have ever made in my life! I am a Mormon because the Holy Ghost testified to my spirit and heart that this gospel is true and it is so interwoven in my heart that I know I will always be true and faithful to my God and savior forever. Amen

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church, I was recently called to serve as a Missionary in Chile and I'm working really hard to prepare because I know that the more prepared I am the better I can serve the people in Chile. I also enjoy my callings I have in the church as of now. I help teach the small children in the church during Sunday School, I teach the 8-9 year old children. I also have the privilege of hometeaching two families every month, I have learned to love them and enjoy their company and their wonderful stories. I also enjoy teaching them lessons of the gospel.
