Hi I'm Gene

I was born in Iowa and grew up in Utah. I am a Pathologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up and went to college in Utah. My career was working as a Pathologist in a hospital. I am a father of six children. I served a mission in Canada as a young man and later served a mission with my wife in Brazil. As I was growing up, I enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking. Now, my interests are golfing, hiking, running marathons or half marathons, reading, working in my garden and yard work.

Why I am a Mormon

Embedded in the very fabric of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with its inherent doctrines and principles are all the answers to life's most important and pressing questions. The church gives me direction, comfort, and knowledge about what this life is all about, and what the potential for the future is as I abide by the teachings of the Savior as are found in His Gospel. I am convinced that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is present in His Church that bears His name. The church's emphasis on family unity strikes an important chord in my life and further convinces me of the divinity of the Latter-day Saint faith. For these reasons, and many more, too numerous to list, I am a Mormon. I consider myself to be blessed abundantly because of my membership in this Church. I know that Jesus, His atonement, and His mission form the very foundation of this, His Church.

How I live my faith

I strive to mold my life and its many decisions to be in harmony with the Church doctrines and teachings because I am convinced that these are actually the teachings of Jesus Christ. As decisions are made on a day to day basis, I try to be sure that what I do and think are compatible with the example and teachings of the Savior. Following the counsel of our prophet and the other Church leaders is ideally what I would do to manifest my faith in the truthfulness of the Gospel. Being willing to share my testimony in words and actions with others also constitutes an action which demonstrates how I live my faith. I want to follow the Savior's example of service. I currently serve as a missionary for the church in our town. I also volunteer at a local school to tutor children in math and reading. I volunteer at our local church peach orchard to prune, and pick the fruit that will be used to feed people who are in need.
