Hi I'm Dianne

I grew up in Adelaide, Australia. I am a mom of five living in Oregon. I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five children, my youngest just turned 12 and my oldest 22. They both have birthdays the week of Christmas, so it has always been kind of hectic this time of year. I love my family so much and it is beginning to expand even more! I have a 1 year old grandson and one on the way. Family has always been very important, but my own family still lives in Australia, so I don't get to see them very often. I love to sing and play the piano, music is very much a part of me. I love to bake, cross-stitch and craft. I work part-time at an LDS Seminary for high school kids taking released-time religion classes as a secretary. It's a great job for me, so I can be home with my children when they get home from school. I love nature, there's nothing more cleansing to my mind than being outside, away from anything technical or mechanical. One of my favorite outdoor scents, that I miss, is the smell of gum leaves on the ground after a good rain. I miss the unique beauty of Australia, but Oregon makes up for a lot of it!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the Church when I was very young, about 3 years old. So, I have pretty much been raised as a Mormon. No matter what choices your parents make, however, you have to find your own path and I did, through careful study and prayer. I am grateful for real answers to prayer! I cannot deny what I have felt as I asked my Heavenly Father for His will in my life, and His very direct and distinct answer, through the feelings given of the Holy Ghost as I specifically asked of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and the Gospel as I had been taught since I was very little. I am so grateful to have been taught to pray to my Heavenly Father as a real and living Father, and to know that He knows me completely. He is always there for me, ready and waiting for me to come to Him. I love being a member of this Church, it changes my life even still, every day, as I learn more and develop my relationship with God.

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon! I can't imagine my life without my faith and the influence of God in my every day... to have the still small voice of the Holy Ghost be my companion. At Church, I am lucky to be able to work with the leaders of the young women, ages 12-18, in our Stake (a group of several congregations). I love being involved with the youth.. they are such good examples in the way they live their lives and influence those around them for good. I also love watching how their leaders help, listen and guide them.. they are amazing examples themselves! Such a difference it makes, for young people to understand who they really are, and why they are here and who they can become. I love to study the scriptures. I always have a peaceful, complete feeling when I do, like I am satisfying my hungry spirit. Just like we eat when we are hungry, I believe our spirits need that too. When we ignore or choose not to feed that part of us, we can be pushed in any direction and not be able to have clarity of thought to choose wisely.
