Hi I'm Casey

I grew up in Singapore. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There are 4 people in my family: my dad, my mum, my sister and me. I also have a dog, two rabbits and a hamster at home. My parents were converts and I was raised LDS. I enjoy travelling and exploring places which are rich in culture. I also enjoy reading literature, music and sciences which is an unusual combination of interests from where I come from. I believe strongly in helping others and as such I do enjoy working with people and learning how I can offer aid to others in times of need.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts and were inactive in the church. When I was born, they had made that decision that they would raise me in the church and that has made all the difference in my life. Being raised an LDS, most of us get baptised at the age of 8 and I did too. Then, the understanding of life from the view of a child had always granted me a sense of certainty. But as I grew, I felt myself drifting further away due to things that had occurred in my life and it had left me questioning my believes. I decided then to study out the teachings of the Church and the teachings of others that I was inclined to believe. I read Church histories and compared its teachings but nothing spoke to me greater than the words of my own Patriarchal Blessing. The unspoken question "Did God love me? And who was I to him?" was instantly answered just as the Patriarch pronounced this blessing and there was an undeniable feeling that heaven was closer than I thought. It was after that blessing that I knew that God knew me. And from then I could slowly see how things in my life had played out in his time to shape me into the person I am today. I firmly believe that this Church is true. I know it because through the experiences that I have encountered and I have, despite all persecutions, seen the Lord's hand work to protect. Looking at things through an eternal perspective has helped me love the people and value the things that ought to matter most. I believe that the Lord will reveal his will so long as you are willing to listen for it as I have seen it happen so many times in my life. I know that God and Jesus Christ asked us to learn about them and as we do so, truth will be revealed and sustained through all things. I believe that through this Church, the Lord has granted me the opportunity to be with my family for all time and eternity and not all hope in the world is lost through death.

How I live my faith

I serve as a ward chorister in the ward that I am from. Sometimes I am invited to help teach the youth in topics that I am more familiar. I enjoy those times immensely as I feel that I am so uplifted by the experiences of these youths. One of my favorite callings in church is being a visiting teacher. This means that I sit down with other sisters from my ward at least once a month to find out how they are coping and share a very special message that has been prayerfully sought to cater for each of their lives. Through this, I learn that the Lord is mindful of everyone as he knows the needs of each individual and can inspire others to help them. Since I am new to visiting teaching, I have a very dedicated partner that helps me with it and through her example I have learnt so much and have seen her genuine love and concern for so many in my ward.
