Hi I'm Katelyn Smartt

I've lived in Utah, Arizona, and Hawaii. I like to sing in the shower. I love my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah but we ended up in Arizona when I was eight and I claim it as home. I love trying new things and I tried a plethora of sports and hobbies all growing up. My favorite sport though, is definitely volleyball. Family is the center of my life and I fall as the second youngest of six kids. I have had my fair share of trials, but one thing I have been blessed tremendously with, is an amazing family and group of friends. My parents are both great examples to me and have raised their family with love. I would say I have unique relationships with each sibling and am so grateful for each of them! I now have 4 nieces and 2 nephews and they make me happiest. My biggest obsession in life would have to be kids. All growing up, I babysat constantly and this past year I worked in a daycare. Basically, the thing I look forward to most in life is being a mom someday! I graduated from Mountain View High School so basically I'm a toro for life. Post High School life has consisted of two semesters at Brigham Young University Hawaii and one semester at Dixie State College of Utah. My plan was to become a nurse so I became a Certified Nursing Assistant and was focusing on the prerequisites for nursing school. Now I'm not so sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I have a year and a half to think about it as I serve a mission in Independence, Missouri. Basically I just really like this thing called life, it's exciting.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that has always been very active in the church. That has given me a strong base to my testimony, but I have come to know for myself that this gospel is true and I love it with all of my heart. Christ's church has literally been restored to the Earth today and we have the fullness of His gospel to help us progress and grow and someday return to live with our Heavenly Father. We have temples on the Earth which enable us to be sealed with our familes for eternity, and to be able to make sacred covenants with our Heavenly Father to progress towards eternal life. As well as perform work for those that have already passed on. We have the priesthood power to bless us and I testify that it is the power of God given to worthy men and I have seen it's power for myself. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God called to restore the gospel and to translate the Book of Mormon. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, The Doctrine of Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price are all inspired of God and work together to bring us truth and bless our lives. They all testify of Jesus Christ and His role as our Savior and Redeemer. My Savior loves me with an infinite love and He is truly my best friend, the only one that understands what I go through at all times. He has felt everything we go through and He loves us so much we can't even comprehend it. Our Heavenly Father also loves us with an infinite love and He is watching over us at all times, even those times that we forget He is there. Luckily, we can pray to Him at all times and for any reason at all. As I've gotten older, I have needed to rely on prayer and have been strengthened and comforted countless times. The gospel is true and I love it with all of my heart and I want everyone to have it!

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by applying the teachings of the gospel into my life and progressing with the help of my Savior and my loved ones. The little things are what make a huge difference in my life. I am a completely different person when I attend church weekly, read my scriptures daily, and have a continuous prayer in my heart. As members of His Church, we have the responsibility to share at least a glimpse of His light and love with everyone we come in contact with. I have a long ways to go, but I try to always remember that I am a daughter of God and when I remember to have that mindset, it truly changes the way I think and act. As I have come to know the truthfulness of the gospel, I have become increasingly happier and happier and I try to live so that others want that in their lives. I think it is amazing how much the church emphasizes serving others and I know that we are happiest when we think outside of ourselves and have charity and a "Christian" attitiute at all times.
