Hi I'm Kayla

I was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. I'm studying to teach home economics. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old. When I was younger, I wanted to be a school teacher. I was so nerdy that I even played "school" while I was at school. Time progressed. I started playing the piano. I learned how to play the clarinet. I was in school musicals. Also, I joined choir. I found my love for music. It will always be an important part of my life. While in high school, I continued with choir and played softball as well. I learned I was not very competitive, yet I loved the game. I went through a few different majors before I remembered I really want to learn about life skills and teach them to others. When I graduate, I will be able to teach child development, interior design, financial literacy, home ec, and math.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church. My parents and people in my ward have tought me the doctorine at a very young age. I don't just blindly follow because someone has told me too. Every time I went to church, everytime I read the scriptures, everytime I look at a picture of Christ, everytime I pray, I know I belong to the true church. I have studied the words of prophets, old and new. I have studied it out in my mind and prayed about this church. God told me that it is all true. The world was created by God. He created man in His own image of flesh and bone. He had prophets starting with Adam including all those in the Bible. Christ was born to this world. He lived and died for each of us. After His apostles had all passed on, there was a time of apostasy. Christ brought His church back to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. The book of Mormon is the word of God. It testifies of Christ. We have a prophet on the earth today to be God's mouthpiece, though we can recieve revelation for ourselved through the Holy Ghost. There is life after this one and we will be judged according to our works, for faith without works is dead, being alone. We can be sealed to our families for eternity and we can all return to live with our Heavenly Father and Christ if we chose to follow Their commandments now.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I loved going to church as a kid. I wasn't sure why, but I was always so happy there. When I turned 12 I was always incharge of something. I planned activites for those around my age, spoke at spiritual events, and supported others when they were incharge. I realized why I was so happy at church, while I was there I could feel the power of the Holy Ghost. He confirmed to me that I was in the right place and the doctorine I was learning is true. He gave me a glimpse into the love that my Heavenly Father has for me and for all of His children. Now, I have devoted 18 months of my life to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ full time. I spent all day every day knocking on doors and teaching people about the church and our savior who leads it. I want everyone to find the happiness and comfort I have for this church is true.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a spiritual witness of truths. Individuals can come to know for themselves if Heavenly Father lives, Christ atoned for each of us, Joseph smith is a prophet and through him Christ's church was restored, there is a loving prophet on the earth today, and that the Book of Mormon is true. Once an individual knows this, he can testify of it. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are used to perform ordinances for those who did not have the chance while living on earth. We perform the ordinances by proxy and those whom we are standing for have the choice to accept or reject it. These ordinance include baptism and marriages for time and all eternity Show more Show less
