Hi I'm Holden

I was raised in California. I enjoy the outdoors and having fun. I am an Eagle Scout and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In general, I enjoy having fun and participating in any activity that tests my adrenaline. A few hobbies I am interested in are ATV racing, paint balling, and many board sports. My parents have put a lot of trust in me, and I have worked hard to meet their expectations. I am an Eagle Scout, and i am currently attending BYU and studying to become a mechanical engineer. It has been my goal to help improve our society in its efficiency as well as its moral standards. Oh and im serving in Ribeirao Preto!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong LDS family but have always been cynical. I refused to be baptized at age 8 until i was given missionary discussion because i felt that i could not be a part of an organization just because i was raised in it. As i have matured, i continue to question the church but as I do, my love and respect for this sacred institution grows. I have witnessed the blessings of living worthy and have felt the emptiness of not following with exact obedience. My two sisters have both served missions, one to London and the other Nebraska. I have seen the effect it has on them and the amount they have changed as their testimonies have grown. I am so thankful that they have been examples to me as my family has been through difficult times and that they were always able to share my fears and also joys. I am thankful to be able to prepare and serve a mission. I have been called to serve in Brazil, and have already seen the changes in my extended families lives who are not of my faith. They are very supportive and it is a miracle that they are becoming interested in what I and many others know to be true. Im thankful for the spirit and that it is able to testify to others of its truth. I love our savior, Jesus Christ, and that he was able to live a perfect life as an example to us, his family, and that he was willing to sacrifice his life for his fathers purpose, a greater and most wonderful plan.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in several aspects to the community. As a boy scout, we participate in events like feeding the homeless, planning service projects that benefit non-profit organizations, and other simple acts of kindness. As a member of the LDS church, I have been taught to help the elderly, less-fortunate, and family. We have been able to take care of peoples yard work or put up holiday decorations and have used these opportunities to find more chances to serve and brighten the day of others. I now work with the deacons, or twelve and thirteen year old members of our church, as they also prepare to be strong members of the community. we take them shooting, hiking, camping, or even boating to teach them important skills that they will need as they grow older to either survive in emergency or even to survive the every-day world. It is a blessing to be able to serve those who are less-fortunate and it is amazing to watch as the youth mature and grow spiritually as they serve others and do what has been asked of them.
