Hi I'm Emily

I love to road bike, do yoga, speak Chinese, be a mom and a wife. I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hong Kong, China. I speak Cantonese, and Mandarin. I studied Mandarin at Brigham Young University. I am a mother and love my family. My husband and I love to bike together. We have ridden our tandem road bike from Provo, Utah to St. George, Utah twice. We did it both times in 24 hours. We have ridden our tandem bike from Jackson Hole, WY to Honeyville, UT in 15 hours. We haved ridden from Provo, UT to Plain City, UT and then back to Provo, UT all in one day as well. It is our hobby to go on long bike rides together. We have a bike trailer for our son to ride in now so we can go on family rides together. My husband and I both speak Chinese and hope to one day live in China. We would love to raise our family there for a time. While we are there it would be great to create biking events throughout the beautiful country of China.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is real. I know that God is real. I know that Jesus Christ has established His church again here on the earth. I know that He did it through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Thomas S. Monson and his twelve apostles are called of God and that they act on behalf of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know these things because I have prayed, I have sacrificed, and I have worked to find out for myself that these things are real. I am a Mormon because I have made covenants with God and Jesus Christ to keep their commandments and to remember them in the things that I do. I love God and I know that by being a Mormon I can do very specific things to show God that I love Him. Those specific things include being baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Also, by making covenants with God in the temple. I have made covenants with God and with my husband. I know that these things are real because of the power that I have felt in my life. I feel so happy, strong, and peaceful when I remember that I am a Mormon and what that means to me.

How I live my faith

I gain strength from attending church each Sunday. My husband and I enjoy taking our family to church. It is a place for us to develop friendships and learn from those around us. I love that I get the chance to serve other people there. My favorite calling is being a visiting teacher. One of the women that I teach has had triple bypass heart surgery. She has been smoking cigarettes for awhile now. She has expressed a desire to me to quit so I have invited her to attend the 12 step program for addiction recovery that is put on by LDS family services. As I have gone I know that she will receive great help also by attending. It is a great place for anyone that may struggle in anyway is an addiction. It has taught me the power that the atonement has and how the Holy Ghost can motivate and strengthen others to trust in God and overcome personal weaknesses. Something that helps me to be a good mother and wife is reading the scriptures. The Book of Mormon helps to remind me that I am a daughter of a loving Father in Heaven and He has a very special plan for me and my life. I read the Book of Mormon everyday by myself and with my husband. My husband and I take time at night before we go to bed to read from the Book of Mormon. It is amazing how by reading the book together we are blessed with peace in our home.
