Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Rachel

I am a full-time student, soon to be full-time missionary. I love to laugh, and to be with those I love. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I absolutely adore my family. I am the oldest of 5 girls and being in a family of all sisters is probably the best thing ever. I am currently in my sophomore year of college at BYU-Idaho, but will soon be leaving to become a full-time missionary in Peru. I grew up in a family of educators. My dad is a teacher, my mom is a teacher, and many of my aunts, uncles, and grandparents have been teachers as well. I guess you could say it's in my blood because I am currently studying to become a teacher as well. My major is early childhood special education and I find great joy in helping young children who may not have been dealt the best hand in life learn and grow despite their disabilities. Along with being a teacher, one of the things I look forward to most is being a mom and having a family of my own. Some other things about me: I love music, listening to it and playing it. My favorite instrument is the piano, although I have learned to play the violin and guitar as well. I love to read, watch/quote movies, and eat ice cream. I'm left-handed and proud of it! Disneyland is my favorite vacation destination and my favorite time of the year is autumn time. The best part of my day is when I get to sit down and talk, listen, and laugh with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church, and my parents have taught me the principles my entire life. I relied on their testimony when I was younger, but came to a point where I needed to know for myself. I have a distinct memory of kneeling down by my bed when I was 14 years old and pouring out my soul in prayer with the desire to know if what I had been taught my whole life was true. As I was praying the most indescribable feeling came over me, it enveloped me in love, joy, peace, and knowledge that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church upon the earth. I remember falling asleep that night with tears running down my face and a very full heart. That was the foundation of my very own testimony and since that day I have continued to build upon that foundation through attending my meetings, reading the scriptures, saying my prayers and by seeing the hand of the Lord in my life. I know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me, and I love him. This Church has made me a better person, and I don't know where I would be without it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my meetings and serving others. I have had several different callings in the church including pianist, chorister, family home evening (FHE) group leader for my singles ward, and as a special needs mutual youth counselor in high school. I also live my faith by reading the scriptures and saying my prayers and attending the temple. Doing these things bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and bring comfort and peace to my life.
