Hi I'm Ginny

I love camping at the beach and eating rocky road ice cream. I am a middle school science teacher and mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am sixth generation San Diegan. My family has been in San Diego since it was part of Mexico and I am part of the descendants of Old Town group. I love to go to Old Town to eat dinner and take in the atmosphere. I have been married for 17 years and we have three children. I am a member of National Science Teachers Association and I love doing hands on science activities with my students. I have been known to stop by the grocery store and pick up dry ice on the way to work for a science experiment. I work with a large number of at risk students and strive to show them love and respect to help them succeed. I am an author of an early learning guide for parents and I taught parent education classes for four years. After work, I head to soccer, baseball, or Scouts with the kids. I love camping at the beach in our beat up tent trailer. I enjoy reading a book while the kids play in the sand or water. It is the time I feel the most relaxed. This summer I am planning on backpacking with my family for a week in Yosemite.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful for my knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan. It is comforting to know God is in charge and loves each of us. I am a science teacher and feel science and my beliefs go together perfectly together. I understand the importance of families. I am grateful for the blessings of a loving husband and happy family life. I know these are enormous blessings. My favorite Bible stories are of Esther and of baby Moses. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and restored the gospel. I remember feeling his story was true when I was in Sunday School as a teenager. I love the music from Joseph: A Nashville Tribute. I am grateful for a prophet today. I am grateful families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I try to live my beliefs every day. The teachings of Jesus Christ bring happiness and peace. Life is challenging and I need Heavenly Father's guidance every day. I feel great when we say our family prayers and learn scripture stories together. Our oldest son currently attends an early morning church class Mon. through Fri. at 6:10 am. Our son works out at the high school gym before attending class at church so we are up at 5:10 am. He also plays sports after school so it is a long day for him. Our two boys are active in the Boy Scout troop which is the youth program at church. I like how they learn survival skills and gain confidence. We love to visit the temple. On a trip to Arizona we visited a temple under construction. We like to take our children to visit the San Diego temple, especially at Christmas time when there are beautiful lights and large nativity sets. We love the Mormon Batallion Visitor's Center in Old Town. We attend church each Sunday. Although our children play sports, they do not play on Sun. Our daughter plays on a competitive soccer team and the coaches are great about her only playing on Saturdays during tournaments. I know this is a difficult thing and I appreciate how great the team has been.
