Hi I'm MacKenzie

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am from Southern California.

About Me

I am 19 and just finished my first semester at BYU-Idaho.I loved Idaho. It was a great place to study. I am was working on being a vocal performance major but after President Thomas S. Monson announced that young men could serve missions starting at 18 and young women could serve missions starting at 19, I immediately turned in my mission papers. I recieved my call in November and I report to the MTC in January. I am going to Japan! I couldn't be more excited to serve the Lord. My family is excited for me as well. I am the first missionary to come from our family since I have 3 sisters. Our parents raised all of us in this church. I couldn't be more grateful for that.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, staying a member has always been my choice. This gospel and the people in this gospel have given me so much strength as I go throughout my life. I have never faced a problem that could not be solved through living the standards the Heavenly Father has put in order for us. I know that Heavenly Father is real. I know He hear's our prayers, and I know through personal experience that He answers our prayers if we are asking with a deep desire to know the answers for ourselves.I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ lives. I know that He atoned for all of our sins and I know because of that, each of us, through the atonement and repentance, can return to live with our Father in Heaven again. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the true and modern day prophet. I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is another testiment of Jesus Christ. I have read it all the way through several times. It holds wisdom that blesses each of our lives. After reading it, I prayed to Heavenly Father to know if it was true and I recieved a strong answer from the Holy Ghost that it is true. I invite all others to find out for themselves if the Book of Mormon is true. I promise that anyone who reads the Book of Mormon and prays sincerely to know if it is true will recieve an answer from Heavenly Father. I cannot express how grateful I am to call myself a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the church, I have been given many oppurtunities to serve. In the young womens program that the Mormon church has for girls ages 12-18, I was given the chance to work in small presidencies with girls my age. Here we get to learn how to run church meetings, plan activities, teach lessons, and care for the other girls. Our leaders helped guide us to center our plans around serving others. Whether it was reaching out to lesson active church members, doing small acts of kindness for the elderly members in our ward, or doing something that would help our community. I am grateful for these oppurtunities. They taught me how amazing it is to look outside yourself to serve those who are around you. And they showed me how to show love to others. Now, I am preparing to leave on an 18 month mission where I will do my best to center my whole life around serving other's and bringing them closer to Jesus Christ. Those chances I was given to serve will definitely help me grow even more while I am away. I hope that I can help others the way the people of this church have helped me throughout my life.
