Hi I'm Ali Atkinson

Hi, I'm Ali! I'm a trumpet player, a West Virginian, and a Mormon!

About Me

Hi, I'm Ali! I am from the beautiful hills of West Virginia. I'm the youngest of five kids, and I love my quirky family. I am a junior studying trumpet performance at Brigham Young University. I am currently taking three semesters off to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Angeles, California!

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a Mormon can be summed up in a few words from a popular LDS children's song, “I know who I am, I know God’s plan; I’ll follow in His ways.” I know that I am a literal daughter of God. There is a God. He is our Father, and we are His literal children. He wants us to inherit all that He has, so He devised a plan. We have come to this Earth to be tried, to be tempted, to experience, to learn, and to grow. However as mortals, there is no way we can return to His perfected presence on our own. Our Heavenly Father so much wants us to return and be eternally happy with Him that He gave His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to mankind. Jesus Christ humbly came to this imperfect world and suffered more than we can comprehend because of love. Because He loves me, He unselfishly took upon Him my pains, my trials, my sins, and my shortcomings. Because He loves me, I can daily overcome and become until that one perfect day when I can gain the most precious gift of all – eternal life with my loved ones and with my Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father has not left us alone in this world without guidance. We live in the glorious days of the Restoration of the fullness of His Gospel upon the earth. Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ in a grove of trees. The priesthood and sealing power have been restored to the Earth. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Thomas S. Monson is the prophet of God on the earth today. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches the fullness of the good news; its teachings are true. I love my Savior – I testify that He lives! I love this Gospel – I testify that it is all true! I am grateful for the hand of the Lord in my life as I gradually try to become my potential as a daughter of Deity. I know that as we put the Gospel first in our lives, everything else will fall into place. I look to the future with a bright faith and hope! Pray to know He is there. I promise you He is.

How I live my faith

My faith is a part of my daily life. It effects my work as a musician and as a person. To me, church is much more than a Sunday thing. We all volunteer to work in the various programs and leadership positions throughout the week. It is a community of friends and workers for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
