Hi I'm Mary Moody

I'm a BYU lacrosse player. I'm a missionary in China. I'll always be a Vegas girl at heart. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to high school in Las Vegas and was very involved in sports and clubs like volleyball, lacrosse, theatre, student government, and NHS. After high school I attended BYU for a year and a half before deferring my enrollment so that I could serve a mission for our church in Hong Kong, China. I was on the BYU Women's Lacrosse team and plan to play again and finish my degree in Special Education at BYU when I get home from my mission in July of 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this religion makes me happy. It provides me with reasonable boundaries and guidelines that keep me safe and give me the freedom to live a truly fulfilling life. It gives me the knowledge that I have a Savior who died for me and who knows me better than anyone in the world. I know that if I am ever struggling, I can pray to God and He will help me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches me how to be more Christlike and how to use my talents in a way my Heavenly Father would be proud of. It teaches me that I am a child of God and that I will be with my family forever. The members of my church are like my second family. I know that if I ever need something I can go to them and they will be there in a heartbeat. When I live in harmony with my church's teachings, I am happier than I could ever imagine.

How I live my faith

I have held several callings in our church including president of the women's organization known as Relief Society, committee member for planning church events, and visiting teacher in which I visit other women in our church and make sure their needs are met. I also try to spend as much of my free time as possible to serve our community. I have participated in many community service activities such as coat and food drives, volunteering in special needs classrooms, tutoring struggling students, peer counseling, painting over graffiti, and traveling to elementary schools in Vegas putting on assemblies that teach children the negative effects of tobacco. I decided to go on a mission so that I can teach others about this great blessing in my life.
