Hi I'm Kristen Bean

I'm from a tiny town in Idaho. I love music. I take pictures of everything. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving an LDS mission in South Carolina so I will be here for 18 months and then return to finish my schooling. I love sharing the gospel and the happiness it brings with anyone who will let me. :) Being on my mission I'm constantly thinking about the gospel and how I can improve myself. It always comes back to becomoing more like Christ. It helps me learn so much about myself. I've never been happier than I am when I see somebody's eyes light up when they KNOW that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and that they've been able to find what they've been looking for. The most important thing about me is that I have been able to experience that joy and that I am a true blue through and through Mormon and I have found the truth and I will not let it go! I also enjoy eating delicious food, laughing, embroidering, making paper snowflakes, and watching Disney movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been an active member of the church my entire life. Going to church was a habit so I thought nothing of it when I went to college. I went to church like I always did, I accepted assignments like I always did, and I read my scriptures and prayed like I always did. One day at church somebody said something about how we were choosing to be here. We didn't have to be; we didn't have our parents or anybody there telling us we had to go to church. If we were at church it was because we wanted to be. It was then that I realized how much I wanted to be at church. It makes me happy to walk into that chapel on Sunday mornings (or afternoons) and listen to others bear witness, share experiences, and talk about their faith in the Savior and his teachings. I love taking the sacrament and learning about scriptures and spending time with all the wonderful people I have had in my wards. Being a Mormon gives you a sense of belonging, you know that there are others who believe the way you do and you can go to them with any concern in the world. It gives you a home away from home, a support group that can be there when family and friends can't, a place of refuge to go when you feel there is none, and a safe, quite place away from the temptations of the world. These are all such wonderful things that come from being a Mormon, but the best one to me is when I feel the Spirit and know that I am in the right place, doing the right thing, and that if I keep true to my faith and uphold my standards that I will be able to live with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my family forever.

How I live my faith

While on my mission I go around sharing my beliefs with anyone and everyone! The best way to live my faith is just by following Christ and trying to become more like Him. Faith is definitely an action word and as we act on that faith we receive more and it shows!! Before I left I had an assigned position in my ward for quite a while. In my Single's wards at college I became a librarian, then a teacher, then an activity coordinator, and many other things that I wasn't officially assigned to. Being involved in my church activities has led me to make new friends and have cool experiences that could not have happened anywhere else. Every position I have held in my various wards has taught me something or shown me something about myself and the church that I could only have learned through that particular experience. I love doing service projects with my ward and just helping people out.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Kristen Bean
Most importantly The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It testifies of Him as our Savior and Redeemer and it teaches the same principles that are contained in the King James Version of the Bible. The Book of Mormon takes place in the ancient Americas. We believe that Christ appeared to those people in the Americas after his ressurection. His visit is recorded in the Book of Mormon starting in 3 Nephi chapter 11 on page 427. The authors of The Book of Mormon are the prophets that lived in the Americas. The Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God who was able to restore the gospel through Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Kristen Bean
Mormons are Christians!!! I would define a Christian as somebody who believes in and strives to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the reason I am who I am and why I have what I have. I definitely believe in Him and I try really hard to be more Christ-like everyday. I may not always accomplish much, but I know that Because of Him I can succeed in all of my trials. So yes, we are Christian! "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ." Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Kristen Bean
Talk to the missionaries they can help you! Have you ever seen the boys in the suits on bikes or the girls who walk or bike around in skirts? They are all more than willing to talk to you about how you can become a member of this wonderful church--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As you learn more about the church from them you will come to have a desire to be baptized by the proper authority. When you are baptized and confirmed you become a member. It is such a blessing to be able to have Jesus Christ's true church on the Earth today. Show more Show less
