Hi I'm Maren

I was born in California, I'm a military brat, I love my family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a music/dental hygiene student at BYU-Idaho and I love it. My father joined the Air Force when I was six and so we moved every three years which is good because I love to travel. I love to do anything related to music, the outdoors, or reading. I served for a year and a half in Seoul Korea as a missionary. It was the same mission that my father served in for which I am grateful. It gives me an even stronger connection with my dad. My mission changed my life mostly because of the people I met and who I became because of serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was a convert to the church but I grew up in it. I have always tried to be a good person but at the age of thirteen I felt like I should receive some confirmation that this was the true church. I prayed for a few days and didn't receive an answer. I became a little frustrated and finally just asked for something. This was the only time I have heard a voice in my mind so distinctly that was not my own. It said you don't need a huge spiritual experience, you already know. This was exactly what I needed and every day it is the little things that help my faith to grow. I love the comfort, and forgiveness I can receive from Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for me. My father has since passed away but because of the knowledge I gain from being a Mormon I know that I will live with him again. It's hard everyday to be without him but it would be harder without Jesus Christ to help me.

How I live my faith

I try and do something every day to live my faith and remind myself of Jesus Christ. It is the small things you do everyday that keep you thinking about others and Christ. Serving others at church also helps me. Being able to share talents or teach others helps me deepen my own faith. I love to be able to serve others and I hope that I make a difference in others lives. As a missionary I lived my faith every day by trying to serve others and turning my thoughts towards others and my Savior.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Maren
Family relationships is an opportunity to love and grow with others. My family helps each other through our hard times. My father passed away when I was sixteen but through living the gospel I have come to understand that I will be with my family forever and I will be able see and live with my daddy again.
