Hi I'm Hayden McKinnon Gerrard

I grew up in Layton, UT. I love to play basketball and love helping people. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love basketball and I love the church! I have been waiting to go on a mission for the longest time. Probably since Primary. In high school I played basketball and was also involved in Student Government. I attended Layton High in Layton, UT. I was actually born in Riverside County, California and moved to Utah shortly after, but I still like to say I have Cali blood in me. I attended BYU for a semester in Provo, and have been a long time cougar fan. GO COUGS! I have been in Taiwan for the last year and loving every minute of it! If you dont love life now will you love life tomorrow? I love the food here and the people! I am still learning the language and characters are HARD. It has been a fast blast of a year but looking forward to another one. I see God as the best friend who never tells you how he will do something or when but in the end always does. I love Him and Jesus Christ and that's the best thing to know. Aside from the fact that They love us more!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love this church so much, and have felt a feeling of peace and comfort. It was something I have wanted to have with me always. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and is a true prophet. I know that our living prophet today, President Monson, is the true prophet. I know the Savior was resurrected and lives! I know the Atonement is an amazing tool which I love so very much and I don't know where I would be without it. To truly understand the Atonement is to understand happiness and love. The simple most amazing feeling I have had on my mission was the small, in fact, tiny but FIRM feeling that Jesus Christ loves me. I remember feeling so great and emotional after I turned to someone wanting to know how Jesus paid the price for our sins and I turned to him and flat out said I didn't know. I have no idea but I don't need to. I pray, read, go to church and live God's laws everyday because I have felt this gospel over and over again bring me happiness and HOPE. This church will always give me more HOPE than any other. If I am wrong, then congrats to whoever was right, but I have a knowledge of God and Christ and a strong testimony of Their amazing servant Joseph Smith. No one could fake the Book of Mormon, and who would try?

How I live my faith

I have done a lot of home teaching with my father and have been a home teacher to the same family for the entire time. I enjoyed preparing teaching lessons and being able to teach what I love. I have had various positions in church including Deacon President and Priest Secretary. I also was on the missionary committee a BYU. I am serving as a full time missionary that is preparing to be the best teacher I can be. I live by obedience to God's laws and love for the people of the world. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and am always trying to emulate His example. I honestly just try to be myself. Just everyday I try to improve myself. God doesnt expect us to be someone we are not but He expects to make your natural self something greater than we are now. When it comes to questions and doubts I take a great quote to heart. "Doubts your doubts before you doubt your faith."
