Hi I'm Kalin Nelson

I love to play sports, especially volleyball. I dance, sing, play piano, play guitar, and write music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play sports. I've played soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, football, and ultimate frisbee. However, my favorite is volleyball. I played for my high school's team and made it to the state finals! I also love being outdoors and see the beauty that God has placed all around us. I love to hike, camp, canoe, and rock climb! I've hiked in Oregon, Wyoming, and all over Pennsylvania! I also love music. I love to sing and play guitar, but I first started on the piano. Now, I write music for the piano, guitar, and even some ukulele! I recently finished my first semester at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Currently I am an undecided major, but I am looking into the Media Music Major. My future plans are to first serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then return to school. I have received my mission call to the Germany Berlin Mission. I enter the Missionary Training Center on February 6, 2013. So if it is after that date right now, I'm already there! I am so excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. Both my parents were raised as Mormons, so I was raised as a Mormon. But now that I am grown and living on my own, I am not a member because I was raised in the church. I am a Mormon because I have come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know that Jesus Christ is my living Savior and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is his church here upon the earth. I know that because of Him, I can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father again someday. I know that the things found in the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon teach of Jesus Christ and his commandments for us. In those holy books we can learn the way to be saved by Christ and live in heaven forever.

How I live my faith

Growing up as a youth in the church, I was called to lead other youth. When I was 13, I was president over the other 12 and 13-year-old boys in my congregation. When I was 15, I was president over the 14 and 15-year-olds. At 17, I was called over the 16 and 17-year-olds. Also throughout my youth, I was a home teacher. Monthly, or more frequently as necessary, my father and I would visit certain members of our ward. Multiple times we helped an old widow who needed help with chores around her house and her yard. Through us, the Lord brought her the help she needed. When I moved to Provo for schooling, I was called to be on the Activities Committee in my congregation. With other members of the committee, I helped to organize a talent show, a dance, and other fun activities to get everyone in our congregation to meet one another and have fun!

Are Mormons Christians?

Kalin Nelson
Yes! We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. I know he died on the cross and atoned for me so that I can be saved from my sins and live with Him forever in His kingdom. Christ is the center of my faith, hope, and religion. Show more Show less
