Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a college student, a daughter, a sister, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I know it,I LOVE it!

About Me

I'm a student at BYU-I and I LOVE every bit of it! I am currently doing my prerequisites for the nursing program. I have been born and raised in the gospel, but that doesn't mean I am perfect! In fact I have made too many mistakes, but the power of the atonement is real!

Why I am a Mormon

There was a time when my testimony was shaken, I began questioning a lot of things in my life. I became lost and very unhappy. I started to hangout with people that I know I shouldn't have. Then things changed. I picked up the scriptures one day and they just happened to fall onto 1 Corinthians 3 and the verses 16-17 just seemed to shot out to me. In those verses it states, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelt in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." WE ARE TEMPLES! The fact that I am something so important to God and that He loves me so much and didn't want to see me waste my time of these sinful acts! He knew I was better than this! I remember praying that day and being brought to tears and feeling the confirmation that we are all children of God and He loves us each individually and equally! That's when I gained the strong reassurance that the atonement of Jesus Christ is real. All we have to do is put our sins in his hands, he has already suffered for us, all he asks is that we come to him and become perfect through him! That is what this gospel is about, becoming perfect through Christ! Becoming a better disciple of Christ, coming to the knowledge that we are all children of God and all God wants us to do is come back home to him! The gospel brings JOY to all of those that have it because they know these things to be true! They have so much JOY because they KNOW they will one day be with our Heavenly Father again! I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, because it brings me JOY, it is through the gospel that I am able to become a better disciple of Christ, I am able to be perfected in Christ. I know that through Christ I can one day live with my Heavenly Father. The gospel has the power to change lives, to bring joy, peace, and comfort; we just need to apply it and live it!

How I live my faith

I began living my faith by trying to be an example, when the time came I started seminary. For those who have not heard of seminary, it is a scripture study for high school students to attend for 1 hour. I attended seminary every morning at 6 a.m. During high school I made some bad decisions and it was then I learned that we didn't have to live in our sins. The power of the atonement is real and it has the power to save us all! I wanted to share this message with others so I started going out with the sister missionaries in my ward (sister is a term we use for women in the church because we are essentially all brothers and sisters). It was during that time that my testimony of the gospel grew. I learned that if we gave the gospel the power to do so, it could change our lives! We can be happy if we allow the gospel to change our lives! After high school I started my journey here at BYU-I. What a blessing it has been! During my time at BYU-I I have taken not only prerequisite courses but religion courses as well. I became a Sunday School teacher my first semester (how scary!).. This was a very challenging calling but during this time I learned that the spirit teaches each person differently and it is up to us to find how the spirit teaches us.

Are Mormons Christians?

Many people believe we aren't Christians, but we are. We believe Jesus Christ is our leader, our king, and our Savior, the son of the living God, and the one perfect man to walk the earth. Show more Show less
