Hi I'm KC Yorgason

I'm a blogger, patiently waiting to be a mom, a nanny, married to my best friend, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in a now non-existent logging camp in Alaska, moved to the rainy state of Washington, and now live in a small cozy town in Cache Valley. I have a simple love for the outdoors, small towns, and a good country song. I married my very best friend Dallas. We are the weird Mormons who only dated for 2 weeks before deciding to get married. But like they all say, "when you know, you know". We LOVE movies, cereal, and Root Beer. I just started my second, but first serious, blog! I enjoy writing and discovered that passion on my mission in Nashville Tennessee, where I wrote my first blog as a missionary. I live 1000 miles away from my immediate and extended family but married into a BIG family, which I had never experienced, but LOVE that live 10 minutes from us!

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 8 years old into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but I have made my own decision, now that I am older, to live the teachings of the Gospel. I am a Mormon because I see the blessings that I receive and that others receive when we follow Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life immensly. I could never go back to the person I used to be. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is what holds me together and I am a Mormon because through the Atonement I know that I will be able to be clean from my sins and return to my Heavenly Father after this life. I love being a Mormon. The "guidelines" that we have in the Church don't hold us back from having fun or being more accepted by the world. They liberate me and they help me have more wholesome fun. They uplift me and help me be better and come closer to Christ everyday. I am a Mormon because I like to believe that I will be with my family for time and all eternity, not just until we die. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that the young Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ and through their power he restored the fullness of the Gospel to the earth. I am a Mormon because I believe the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I have received my own personal revelation through prayer by the power of the Holy Ghost that this is Christ's original gospel that has been restored to its fullness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best example I can. There are many aspects of the gospel that enrich my life and that I love sharing with others. I understand that people don't want religion pushed on them. I remember that happening to me and I did not like it. However, I do think that through our examples and commitment to the things we believe to be true we can have a great impact on those that surround us. There is a certain light and feeling you get around good-hearted people and who have the light of Christ beaming within them. I just hope to be that type of person and try to accomplish that by continually practicing, in public and in private, the simple principles of the gospel.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

KC Yorgason
The Atonement is what has saved my life. I have felt the cleansing power of the Atonement many times in my life, sometimes more than others. Just think, Jesus Christ had a mission here on earth. He was sent here to save us from our own mistakes. During His life He was tempted but He thought of each and every one of us every second of every day because if He gave into that temptation He wouldn't be able to save us from our sins. The Atonement is when Jesus Christ suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemene, was crucified on the cross, and was ressurrected three days later. He knows that pains and difficulties we go through. He has over come physical death for us and has made it possible for every single person to return to our Heavenly Father, clean from all of our sins. This is what the Atonement does for us.
