Hi I'm Shawn

I'm an Athlete, a CrossFitter, a Student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Shawn. I recently returned from serving as a full-time missionary. My first love in life was athletics. I enjoy playing all sports; I grew up playing competitive golf. I love anything and everything outdoors: fishing, hiking, mountain biking, rock-climbing, boating, skiing, running, swimming, ice-skating, snorkeling, and every other fun and engaging activity you can think of. I live for having meaningful relationships with people and developing a connection with them. I work as a counselor for teenage LDS kids with a program called EFY. I love it! When I'm not engaged in recreating, or At EFY, you can usually find me serving in the church or with my nose in the scriptures. I probably study them far more than most people, and the truth is...I absolutely love studying them!!! I get excited when I make a connection or learn something new. There's no other feeling quite like being enlightened. I daydream about giving sacrament talks and preaching the word. I love teaching and testifying of Christ. My cat has heard many a sermon. Right now I'm going to college to eventually end up in Medical School. Being fit and leading a healthy lifestyle are important to me. Peaceful moments of reflection and pondering are the essence of who I really am and help me see clearly to appreciate and recognize God's goodness to me in my life. My family is the most important thing in the world to me. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and love jamming out to music with the top down.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. I have felt the Savior's love for me, and I know that He hears and answers our prayers. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and I want others to see the world the way I do, and feel the same way. I am grateful for the knowledge and testimony that I've been blessed with. I am resolute in the fact that God has a specific plan for each one of his children, including me. I know that Jesus Christ is a limitless God who posses the attributes of omnipotence and omniscience. His power is endless. In His infinite strength we can accomplish all things He would have us do. I am a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. He truly saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ after humbly seeking them in prayer. I am a Mormon because I know that there is a living prophet on the earth today: Thomas S. Monson. I believe that being a Mormon is the only intelligent way to live.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by building up others who surround me. It is what the Savior would do, and I try my best to emulate His example. I also live my faith by striving to keep the commandments that God has given us. Every day is a new day. I have a firm belief that we can change to become whoever we want to be. We can change to be more like Jesus Christ through his Atonement. I have seen my life get better as I read the scriptures and pray every day. It helps me feel closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I live my faith by following the Spirit of God everyday. He leads me where He would have me go, He tells me to say what He would have me say, and He instructs me to do the things He would have me do. I believe in never giving up. Even though life can be hard, I know that I am here to experience profound happness. To me, being a disciple of Jesus Christ means not shrinking in the face of adversity. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means that when we get knocked down, we get back up. We can get back up because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Jesus can give us strength and can carry us when we cannot continue on our own. I have felt His divine help at various difficult times in my life. His power and strength are real.
