Hi I'm Scott

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in a small town in eastern Utah. I am a father of nine children and a grandfather of 34.

About Me

I was raised in a small town in Utah to parents that were active members of the Church and wonderful examples of a Christlike life. I was taught the value of hard work and personal responsibility. They taught me to be proud of my country and to service in the Church. When I was 19, I served a mission in Australia which strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ. Later I married my best friend, and after our first child was born, I was called to serve my country, a year of which was in Vietnam. There I gained a greater appreciation for my country and for the freedoms we enjoy. While in the service I felt many times the protection and guidance of my Heavenly Father and our Savior. I knew that He knew who I was and that He loved me. After graduating from college I entered the business world where I held several management and leadership positions. It was a joy to see others grow, excel and be successful...and to know that you may have played a small part in their success. I am a people watcher...I love to watch people grow, be successful and happy. My greatest accomplishment and blessing is my family. I am the father of nine wonderful children, and 34 (and still counting...but slowing down) grandchildren. My wife and I are on our way (five more years) to our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We are looking forward to have many more years where we can serve the Lord together.

Why I am a Mormon

Challenges and trials come to all of us. During these times my faith has been the foundation of my life. During these times I have found great comfort and guidance as I have read, studied and searched the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. During these times prayer has brought me closer to my Father-in-Heaven and He has blessed me. He has not always answered my prayers the way I intended, but in His greater wisdom, He has always answered my prayers for my best good. I have come to trust Him, have greater patience and understanding when challenges and trials come. The gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life, has brought joy, happiness, peace and a testimony that God lives and that we are his children.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the communities we have live and in our Church, especially young adults. This is a time when they are making crucial decisions that will effect their lives for years to come...marriage, education, careers. Because of my involvement with these youth adults, I have great confidence in their goodness, their great capabilities and opportunities. They desperately need role models they can look up to and respect. My faith has taught me the value of serving others. I have found that service to others is the key to a happy life. We live in a world that focuses so much on self and the accumulation of material possessions. These often determine our self-worth and our standards for success in life. But, often we experience sorrow, bitterness and/or unhappiness when our goals are not achieved or our possesses lost. On the other hand, following the example of Jesus Christ, of serving others, brings joy, happiness, and feelings of self-worth.
