Hi I'm Valerie

I love the beauty of God's creations and sharing the good news of the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending BYU-Idaho, majoring in Child Development and Professional Preschool Education. I just got home from serving a mission to the wonderful people in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I love sharing the gospel! I love making friends. I love being happy! I love reading, math, playing games, teaching children, playing the flute, ballroom dancing, and watching cheesy movies. Life is great!

Why I am a Mormon

I've chosen to be a member of the Lord's church because I know that it is true. I have received for myself the witness from my Lord through the Holy Ghost that this is the Lord's church again on the earth, just as it was in olden times. I have felt the warmth and calm confirmation that the gospel is true. Because I am a member of the Lord's church, I am able to know that He loves me and wants the best for me and is able to help me. And not only that, but He knows me and hears my prayers and delights to help me. I know that He answers my prayers. He will answer yours too. One of the things I really love about the gospel is the knowledge that I can live with my family forever; we all can! It's not merely "til death do you part", it's for time and all eternity. What a blessing that is - I can be with the people I love FOREVER! Through the Lord's gospel and through sacred ordinances performed in His holy temples, we can all be sealed to our families for eternity. That is the biggest blessing I could ever hope for.

How I live my faith

I love going to church. I feel the Lord's love and guidance in my life more and more as I learn about Him, follow His commandments, and try to do as He would. I love serving people, whether or not they know it is me. Doing secret acts of service is one of my favorite things - seeing the joy and surprise on a family's face is priceless to me. I volunteer with the younger children, teaching gospel messages to children 2-4 years old.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

There is a difference between secret and sacred. What goes on in the temple is not secret, because any member of the Lord's church who is worthy and striving to be clean before God may enter. What goes on in the temple is sacred. In the temple, we learn eternal truths such as the fact that families can be together forever. Within the temple, we may also receive sacred ordinances, including those that bind families together for eternity. We also perform proxy work for the dead, so that those who died without a chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ or to receive these ordinances for themselves may still receive them. What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Only through grace can we be saved. This doctrine is taught in many scriptures and in the Book of Mormon as well. In 2 Nephi 2:8 we read that "There is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah." Many have heard the scripture which seems to imply that we can work our way to heaven. This is not so. The scripture reads, "For we labor diligently to write to persuade our children, and also our brethren to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace we are saved after all we can do." The phrase "after all we can do" refers to being "reconciled to God," which is repenting of our sins. It is by grace we are saved, having repented of our sins; for no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God. Show more Show less
