Hi I'm Andrew Meeks

I'm a missionary in Taipei Taiwan, a future Marine, a Ute, and I'm a Mormon 我愛基督 跟台彎!

About Me

I've lived in UT since I was three years old. I grew up in a very loving family who pushed me to become the man I am today. - I'm currently serving as a missionary. I absolutely love being a missionary and I know that I will come to love the Taiwanese people and they will come to know the message we invite them to listen to is of God. -I'm a classical pianist, I love to act/dance/sing, play any kind of sports, hang out with my two best friends Brad and Aaron (who are currently serving missions). -I just completed my 5th semester of college and am studying Political Science with and emphasis in world government and Mandarin Chinese. - I absolutely love learning about what is going on in the world. -I am the oldest of four children and love my siblings so much. I love being with them. -I have traveled to Washington D.C., Hawaii, California (over 10 times), Paris, Mali Africa, most of the western states and now I'm in Taiwan!! Woohoo! -I believe in understanding every side to an argument. I have many friends who are not members of the church and love them just the same. I believe I can learn something from anyone.

Why I am a Mormon

When I received my mission call to serve in Taipei Taiwan Mandarin Chinese speaking it was one of the greatest blessings I have been given in my entire life. That mission was the only place in the world I wanted to go and I know that because of my faithfulness through the trials and tribulations I have experienced that the Lord granted me that blessing. "For ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." Now that I am a missionary I have discovered even more about why I love this church. It truly does change the lives of people who listen to its message and accept its teachings. My knowledge of the truthfulness of the this church grows everyday. Because I have not always followed the commandments of the church I know how to be truly happy. For I have never been happy unless I was following the commandments. I relish the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, that still small voice that guides me and makes me feel like my life has purpose. The Holy Ghost is such a focus of our church because of how it testifies of truth. I want everybody in the world to be able to experience this and THIS is the reason I am serving. THIS is the reason I am a Mormon. I want to be happy and I hope I will be able to teach everyone how to invite happiness into their life via the Holy Ghost and the atonement of Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and my Redeemer. He suffered for not only my sins but the sins of the entirety of existence. What greater gift could we have given?

How I live my faith

-As a missionary, it is important to love everyone no matter what. I constantly ask my Savior to help me with this everyday of my life! -I believe in being non-judgmental. I have to many things in my life that I am not perfect in to ever judge another for their shortcomings. -I believe Christ was and is the most merciful human being and therefore I always show mercy and rarely exercise judgment. -I believe in understanding every side to an argument. I have many friends who are not members of the church and love them just the same. Through my interaction with people over the years who believed differently than me I have even come to change certain opinions. -I believe in having Charity, the pure love of Christ. Service is a main focus in my life and I know it blesses me and the people that I have served. -I believe home teaching(when people visit members of the ward and share gospel messages) to be one of the most powerful tools used in the church. Members who have long been inactive come back to the church through home teaching. I have seen this personally in three separate families. -I believe scouting is not only a wonderful opportunity for growth but also an incredible missionary tool. Scouting has been a way that I, as a youth, invited friends who were not members of the church to be involved with church activities. Whether or not they joined the church I know they saw the church in a positive light and recognized the good it does.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Andrew Meeks
Baptism is essential ordinance that everyone must have done so we may enter back into the presence of our Father in Heaven. He cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. This is the reason why Christ came down to suffer for our sins, so that we could have the opportunity to be clean and, once more, enter into the presence of our Father in Heaven. Baptism washes away all of the bad decisions we have made previously in our life. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Andrew Meeks
Being a missionary is the best! The reason I am on my is because I honestly believe God loves everyone. I know this because I know he is our Father in Heaven and He sent His son to atone for the sins of the world. I've felt his love in my life. My love for my Savior has only grown since being out on my mission. I know that he loves the people I have been teaching because I have already seen there lives change. One of our current investigators was telling us about prayer and how he didn't know what he was feeling but that it felt really good. He then said he has faith that his family will let him get baptized! What a great example. This is why we do missionary work. Because our Heavenly Father wants to bless the lives of his children.
