Hi I'm Matthew Wells

I'm a farmer, a student, a husband, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a farmer, a student, a husband, and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was born in Utah but lived the majority of my life in a small town in Illinois. Growing up it was normal to be the minority in my class and school, if not the only member, despite the challenges associated with this task, however, there were many blessings too. I had the unique opportunity to be an example to those around me and teach them about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. After high school, I served a two year mission in Argentina where I truly gained a testimony of my Savior and of the Church. Since my return in January of 2015 I have returned to school at BYU-I where I am an Animal Science major, married my best friend for time and all eternity, and taken over, along with other family members, my father-in-law's farm in Blackfoot. My journey hasn't always been easy, but I believe that trials make us stronger and make this whole adventure worth it. I also know that without Jesus, I never would have made it to where I am today, nor would I be half as happy as I am now.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I have seen blessings of living our Heavenly Father's commandments he has given us. Also because when I talk about, study the gospel or go to church, I feel the fruits of the spirit. Love, peace, joy, patience. It is wonderful to feel the spirit all the time!!!

How I live my faith

Faith is shown in our everyday actions, as we struggle and grow and learn we can become more like Christ, we can choose to turn to Him instead of the world and its pulls and temptations. I live my faith as I learn more for myself of the gospel of Jesus then share it with those around me, I live my faith as I place my trust in God and take the next step towards progression-even when I feel as though I am stepping into the dark. Most importantly, when Satan tempts me and trials threaten to drag me down to the very pits of despair and hell, I live my faith as I place my will in the hands of the Lord and allow Him to lead me toward salvation and eternal life. Faith in God does not mean I have never had doubts or questions, I believe we all should question-it is the only way to learn, instead faith is questioning and doubting then asking God for first a heart willing to listen to Him and accept the answers He sends, second the desire and ability to do His will, and third the questions we have. As we do that, I know that doubts will dispel, questioning minds will be enlightened, and our faith in God and His Son will grow.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Matthew Wells
The Book of Mormon was written by prophets of old, they wrote down what was going on at the time like a journal. Then Joseph Smith translated those writings into perfect English so we can have it today. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Matthew Wells
Yes I do. I believe as it says in the scriptures, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So if he loved his children so much back in Moses' time to give them a prophet then why would he not give us one today?!? Show more Show less
