Hi I'm Karissa

I am a dancer, choreographer, creator, and teacher. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University. My major is dance education. I love dance and everything about it. Though I love multiple genres, the contemporary dance is my favorite. I have three little sisters and one older brother, and now one sister in law. I am a Missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints starting January 9, 2013. I am serving in the Illinois Chicago Mission, teaching in the Spanish Language.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have chosen to be a witness of Christ and to always remember him and to keep the commandments he has given me in order that I can always have his spirit and love with me. It is only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that families can be sealed together for all eternity. I want to be with my family and the ones I love even after this life. I also want to return to live with my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. This Gospel is amazing because it requires one to completely get out of oneself and serve others which in other words is serving God. When we are serving others we are not only helping others but also ourselves.

How I live my faith

Aside from my mission, I am an active member of the LDS church. I love visiting teaching because it allows me to get to know the other sisters in my ward. Being in a student ward, we have FHE every Monday night where we get to know each other by spending time through a fun activity. I have been called to activities committee, temple and family history committee, Institute Co-Chair. All of which require time on my part but allow me to serve people and learn new things about myself as well. As a missionary, I am fully committed to bringing the gospel to others. I have had to learn a new language and be able to teach specific lessons in that language. Missionary work includes getting to know people. As you get to know who people are, a love for them grows because they are children of God just like you.
