Hi I'm Terri

I'm a mother. I'm a business owner. I'm a volunteer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the bay area in California and Eugene, Oregon. I have 2 older sisters and an older brother. When I was 14 years old my father passed away from a cardiac arrest. My mother was left with grief she could not cope with. For my senior year, I moved in with my oldest sister and my mother moved to St. George, Utah to live with her parents. I attended UNLV for college. While I was there, I made some wrong choices and became inactive in the church. In 2001, I found out that I was pregnant. I decided to move to to be closer to my sister. I started going back to church. I went back to school to finish my bachelors degree in hotel management. All while working full time and being a single parent. In 2008, I met an amazing man and was married in the temple (a hurricane hit one week before our wedding and we had to go to a different temple because the one closest had no power!). He has primary custody of his four boys and we became a blended family. In 2009, he adopted my son. In 2010, I went into pre-term labor with our first daughter together and she lived only two minutes. A year later, we gave birth to our baby girl, who has blessed our family with so much love. I am a business owner of a landscape company. I am the treasurer for our PTO. I have volunteered at the school as a home room parent and readers in action coordinator. I have been a team mom for my boys baseball teams, soccer teams, and basketball teams. I love being a mom!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because the gospel teaches me to follow Jesus Christ example to return to live with him and our Heavenly Father. When my father passed away as a teenager, I know I would not have gotten through that hard time without the knowledge of our gospel and knowing that my family will be together forever. I also would not have made it through the most difficult trial in my life of losing my daughter and knowing that I will be able to see her again and raise her. I have not always chosen the right, but I have never lost the testimony that I have, that the church is true and Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the earth. I am grateful for the priesthood that our church has and that my husband can bless my family or me when we are sick or just need comfort. I am grateful to have a living prophet to guide is today and to help us understand this changing world and how to cope with new temptations.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Jesus example as best as I can. I know I am not perfect and I have made wrong choices. But because of the atonement, I can repent and be forgiven for my sins. I have taught young children most of my time as an adult and enjoy it. It is amazing to me to see how they learn stories of the bible and can relate it to today. I have also worked with the young adults briefly and the women of the church. I try to be a good example to my friends and family and hope that they all know how I live my faith!
