Hi I'm Luke Ekstrom

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and Richland, Washington. I love sports, my family, and the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lover of all people and all things. I am a student studying Civil Engineering, and I plan to go to graduate school once I finish my undergraduate. I am a huge basketball fan, I love the NBA and playing basketball as well. I like working and always try to do my best in all that I do. I hope one day to have my own engineering firm and work with my brothers. I am the youngest child of seven children; I have three brothers and three sisters. I am currently serving a mission in Hungary.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) my entire life. In my younger years I put more trust in the testimonies of those around me and primarily my parent's testimonies. I never really had any doubts that the Church was true, or whether the Book of Mormon was true or not. But I rarely felt the spirit and I didn't know those things for myself. So, I decided to legitimately ask God if the Book of Mormon was true, and if the Restoration was a reality and not some fantasy. I started to sincerely read the Book of Mormon, and the more I read it the more I felt that it was from God, and I eventually finished it. And throughout this whole process I had prayed and asked God to help me know if it was true. I didn't know what to expect, but I just remember feeling such a great sense of peace and love as I read from it, and I knew it was my answer from God; as simple as it seemed. Since then, I have gained my own testimony, and (hopefully) it grows stronger and stronger every day. I love being a member of Christ's Church, and being able to know these things. I have seen a direct correlation of my happiness versus how much I read the Book of Mormon, pray daily, and live in a Christlike manner. I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I encourage all to gain their own. It will bless you and/or your family in ways you cannot possibly imagine. I know it has blessed my life, and I know it blessed my family especially.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus, as simple as that statement is, it holds a great amount of power. We are all people, we all make mistakes and screw up sometimes, but that is why we are here! To learn and progress and to have fun in life. In my opinion, God has given us our agency and this Earth, and essentially everything, so we would be able to enjoy our lives! I try to live the best I can, and I know that when I am obedient to God's commandments, I am happier than when I don't. Crazy how that works, right?! I don't know the scriptures the best, I am not perfect with my prayers and remembering to do them. But I know that I can make that my quest in life, to get good at those things, and perfect myself so I can be like my Heavenly Father one day! I try my best to follow our prophet, what a cool thing to be able to say. We have someone who God called personally to help us in our lives, that is just fantastic!! When I think of God and his plan for me, and everything he has ever done, I think of one thing that ties it all together. One thing that science will never be able to explain or debunk, and that is LOVE. Love everyone! Love your enemies, your best friends, your family, your neighbors. We can show our Christlike attributes, character, and most importantly love, as we serve others and think of others first. True happiness is serving/loving others and seeing a smile on their face, and I try to brighten up the world with few more smiles as best I can!
