Hi I'm Ryker

I love travelling and experiencing other cultures. I am passionate about music. I'm a brother, and a son. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college studying physics. It is one of the most difficult things I've ever done, but I love it! I am also working as a math tutor to help pay for living expenses, which I absolutely love! There are few things I enjoy more than seeing the light turn on inside someones head when they understand a concept. I am the second child out of four. I grew up in a household where music was a pretty big part of our lives. Probably one of the most stated phrases in my house was, "practice the piano." Even though none of us has grown up to be professional musicians, music has stuck with me, and is a key aspect of who I am. If you ever walk up to me and catch me unawares, you might hear me singing to myself. I am a lover of biking, hiking, snowboarding, longboarding, rock climbing, bouldering, four-wheeling and pretty much any other activity where you can possibly break a limb. Luckily, I have never broken a bone, which I feel is quite an accomplishment. I have however hit my head more times than I can count, which is why I am now pretty big on wearing helmets.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought me so much joy in my life. By abiding by the teachings of the Church my relationship with God has grown beyond what I ever thought it could be. The Lord has been so good to me. I cannot even begin to explain the depth of gratitude that I feel towards my Father in Heaven. The Book of Mormon has played a huge role in me coming to know the savior Jesus Christ. I strive to read it every day because of what I feel when I read it. The Holy Spirit testifies to me every time I read that the Book is true, that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ and that he has restored his Church to the earth. I strive to live so that the Holy Spirit is my constant companion. Through the LDS Church I have been authoritatively baptized and blessed with the Holy Spirit as I keep sacred promises I have made with God. These covenants I have made give me direction and purpose in my life. They are constant reminders of what I need to do to draw closer to God and become more like him.

How I live my faith

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was just something that I did when I was younger. Now, after having served a 2 year full time mission among the people of Georgia, it is who I am. I have learned to read the scriptures every day, I have learned to pray every day, and I cannot go one day without thinking about God. He has made me into who I am. I strive to live my faith each day by being kind to others; looking for opportunities to serve those around me, and to show my appreciation for them. I further live my faith by making time to serve in the house of the Lord each week. There are people who have passed on that are in need of the gospel. By serving in the Temple I have provided opportunities for my deceased brethren to receive the saving ordinances of the Gospel. Recently, keeping the sabbath day holy has become one of the biggest ways that I live my faith. For 2 years in Georgia I kept this commandment with exactness, but after arriving home, this was one thing that I feel like I wasn't living to the best of my ability. It wasn't until about a month ago (September 2015) that this once again became a part of my life. In personal stories I have share a more detailed story.
