Hi I'm Sarah

My name is Sarah Wilcox. I am one of two children. My family is everything. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love watching movies. Painting helps me express myself. I sing anywhere and everywhere. I'm going to school at BYU-I. I am thinking of going on a mission in the fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received countless conformations by the Holy Ghost that this is the same church Christ established while He was on earth. I've prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and every time I read it I feel peace and joy-which are the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Another reason is because no matter where I go the church is always the same and the members are like your extended family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me. I post uplifting and funny things on social media sites to help brighten others days. I serve in a church calling, which right now is a Relief Society Greeter. I do my best to follow the commandments.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Sarah
The Atonement of Jesus Christ begins in the Garden of Gethsemane and this is where Christ suffered for all our sins, temptations, sicknesses, afflictions, and infirmities (Alma 7:11-12). The second part was when Jesus died on the cross. Lastly the Atonement includes His Resurrection, three days after His death, when His body and spirit came back together as one. It was necessary for an Atonement because as it states in Alma 34:9 “For it is expedient that an atonement should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; … yea, all are fallen and are lost, and must perish except it be through the atonement.” We needed Christ to sacrifice His life so we could repent and be able to return to the presence of the Lord.
