Hi I'm Abby

I grew up in Utah. I am a sophmore in college at Utah State University, studying to be an English Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophmore at Utah State University, my major is English. I love to write, read, and oddly enough I love to edit papers & find errors in books that I read. I love reading Fantasy/Fiction novels; my current favorite is the Hobbit & The Dragons in our Midst. Another of my past times, I love to ballroom dance! The Waltz, Swing, and ChaCha are my favorite ballroom dances. However, I'm not particularly good at it, I LOVE IT! I also love music. Throughout my entire schooling experience (excluding college) I have always participated in some sort of Choiring or Singing. However, my love of music is not limited to vocal music, I love all musical instruments, with a particular passion towards the piano. Some of my favorite instruments to listen to besides the piano include the Cello & the Acoustic Guitar. haha I love to spend time with my family; I am very family oriented. I come from deep roots of Mormon pioneers on both sides of my family, excluding my mom's mom. Both sides of my family, however, beleive in putting family first and we all have great joy in spending time with one another. I have found another pastime, very recently, that brings me the greatest joy & that is Family History work. As soon as I sat down, & spent a few hours on Familysearch.org, I was addicted. My search for family temple work has been a long tough road, but it has been the most rewarding hobby of them all. The temple is my favorite place in the world, and next is my home, which is a kind of temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church. I have always felt it was true. The spirit, the warm fire in my heart has been ever present in my life. However, until recent events, I haven't felt the conviction and conversion as I do now. I know that Jesus is the Christ and he is my brother. He has saved me and carried me through many trials. I know that he died on the cross for me and that he rose from death and we ALL have the opportunity to be resurrected from the dead. I know that the Book of Mormon to be the word of God and that it is written Truth. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, like times of old. And that he restored this Gospel to the earth. I am so grateful to have been born into the church and to know that it is true. I am grateful for the opportunity to go on a mission at 19. It is one of the greatest blessings I have received thus far in my life. I cannot wait to go to San Antionio Texas to serve my God for a Year and a Half.

How I live my faith

I love to live and be a mormon. I have been a youth leader often and have recently taught the 4 year olds on sundays. Reading the scriptures daily is such a blessing and a joy to me. I have found that if I do not read them, I have a difficult time going to sleep at night. Not because i'm not tired or because they put me to sleep, but because they are comforting to me and puts my mind at ease so that I may rest all through the night. I participate in my church choir as often as I can. And I hope someday that I can have the calling to be the ward chorister or ward choir director, or ward music coordinator... any calling to do with music. I have been called to serve a mission in San Antionio, Texas. I am most excited to go out and serve my Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ for One year and Six Months.
