Hi I'm Chelsea Smaellie

I love teaching children, singing, swimming, and playing water polo. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am studying Early Childhood/Special Education at BYU-Idaho. I love teaching children and want to make a difference in their lives. I am the second oldest child of seven and I love my family so much! I love to competitive swim and have played water polo for five years. I am also a life-guard and a swim instructor at my city pool. I love to sing and I want to travel the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that only by obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ and commandments, we can find TRUE happiness in this mortal life. God wants to answer our prayers and wants us to be close to Him. I have asked God and he has told me by the Holy Spirit that this is His true Church and that the Book of Mormon is true. I think the BEST way to come to know if this is Jesus Christ's true church is by reading the Book of Mormon. It has guided me and blessed my life in so many ways. It will answer any life question that you have. It testifies of Jesus Christ and is a great addition to the knowledge and truth found in the Bible. One of the greatest blessing from this church is my knowledge that families can be together forever when they are sealed in the house of the Lord. This church answers ALL of my questions about life and what my purpose is. It has given me great knowledge, peace, understanding, guidance, and power from God.

How I live my faith

I have been a primary and nursery teacher and love to teach young children. I also have visited many women in my ward that have needed comfort. I learned how much our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ love everyone. I also learned how involved they are in my daily life and that they need us to love one another and serve each other. I am currently called to serve a full-time mission in Fort Lauderdale Florida where I can share my love for Jesus Christ and bring others to Him.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Chelsea Smaellie
Women are treated with so much respect and kindness in the church. Women serve one another and care for each other. They are women of faith that act on what they know to be right. Women know that they are equal to men and they are treated as equals. I feel so much love and respect in this church. Men and women are partners and help each other come closer to God. What are Mormon Temples used for?

Chelsea Smaellie
They are the house of the Lord where we are taught about eternal truths and given great blessings if we make sacred covenants. It is beautiful and makes you so happy! It is where families are sealed together for time and all eternity. I know that they are the house of the Lord and it is where I receive peace, comfort, and great knowledge of my purpose here on earth and in the life to come. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Chelsea Smaellie
The missionaries will come to your home out of love and desire to share the truth which has blessed their lives. Their purpose is to invite you to come unto Christ and recieve the blessings of His restored gospel. They are there to answer your questions and to teach you how the message of the restored gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ will bless you and your family. They will teach you about our Heavenly Father and His eternal plan of salvation for all of His children to allow them to return to Him. They will teach you how Christ himself has restored His true church upon the earth with a living prophet today. They will talk about how you can follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ by receiving all of the ordinances of salvation namely baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Chelsea Smaellie
Attending church is where we go to partake of the sacrament which is a piece of bread and a cup of water in remembrance of the body and blood of Christ. We also go to church to be edified by hearing the word of God and knowing what we must do to come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. Church is a place where we learn how to live our faith and fulfill our responsibilities as children of God. Temple's are sacred places where we go to make sacred promises with our Father in Heaven. It is also a place where sacred ordinances are performed that are needed for eternal life. The temple is a place where husbands and wives can be married for time and all eternity. Those who are worthy members of the church and keep God's commandments, are allowed to participate in the sacred ordinances of the temple. The temple is the House of God and blesses all who enter.
