Hi I'm Colleen

I'm a stay-at-home mom. I have one son who has a serious medical condition. I grew up in Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am hard-headed and stubborn and cranky. But God loves me anyway. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a little over 20 years ago. I didn't want to be part of any organized religion but God had other plans. When I started learning about the Church I realized that what I believed the 'Mormon Church' to be was about 180* from the truth. I had a lot of misconceptions about this Church. My life has not been easy. I've had many trials and tribulations. But God has always been there for me. I joined this Church because Jesus Christ died for me and through him I have the opportunity to have Eternal Life. Some of the best times I've had were when I married my husband in the Salt Lake Temple, when my son was born, and when I watched my husband baptize my Mother and confirm her a member of this Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I started taking the missionary discussions as a favor to my best friend, who is a Mormon. But I made it clear to her and the missionaries that I had no intention of every joining this Church. The missionaries quickly became frustrated with me because I already knew all the answers to all their questions. At some point they asked me to be baptized. I said, 'NO'. I didn't want to be part of any organized religion and I didn't need a Church or a preacher to come between me and my personal relationship with God. One of the missionaries ask me if I would pray about it. I told him that I would but that I knew that God would tell me not to join this Church. Well, that night I prayed. But the answer that I received what not what I had expected or wanted to hear. It is personal and private, my answer to my pray. But I will say that I joined the Church because Jesus Christ died for me. And I have received confirmation from Heavenly Father that that is true. That is why I am now a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I've had many different 'jobs' in the Church and I volunteer, working with children, a couple of days a week. I know that families can be together forever and so I spend a lot of time searching for my ancestors so that we can be a forever family. I have found many ancestors and hopefully I'll find many more. I make mistakes and I'm far from perfect but I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ and help others however and whenever I am able to.
