Hi I'm Selena

I grew up in SC. I am a 1st grade teacher. I am a Mormon. I care about everyone!

About Me

I am a mom of 2 beautiful children. We love spending time together camping, swimming, riding bikes, and watching movies. I am a teacher and love my students as if they were my own. I am certified in Early Childhood but hope to be starting my masters in administration in the next 6 months. I was married for 15 years but my husband left me and my children. I thought it was the end of the world but my Heavenly Father has shown me that he only gives you obstacles that will strengthen me. Without him and my family I would be no where, but he has given me courage that I never knew I had. I also have a very close family member with a mental illness. As a very young child I had to help take care of her and gave up many things and thought it was the end of the world but now as I look back I am so grateful for those experiences that help to mold me into the person I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

As I previously told you I am a recent convert into the church. It was a very special day; a day I will never forget. I was a Christian. I was christened as a baby and later I was baptized at the age of 13. I was very active in my church. I was a VBS teacher, children's church teacher, helped with children's sports at church, went to weekly bible study and was doing everything I could to live right but I always felt that something was missing. I felt that I wasn't doing something right but I kept on going. Then my husband of 15 years ups and leaves and I have a even bigger hole in my life. So all of my family and friends reminded me to turn to The Lord and he would tell me what to do. Well they were right! I prayed everyday and asked The Lord to guide me. And he did! He led me to meet a new friend. My friend and I would talk about the Lord and what we believed and I began asking him some questions and he asked me some. He then invited me to church with him. I asked him where did he go and he said Church of Latter Day Saints. I said oh let me think about it. I prayed about it and well The Lord told me to go. So I went the next Sunday with him. I began researching and asking questions. My friends family feeds the missionaries every Sunday so I began talking to them. It was peaceful when I talked with and I found that very Sunday I church I would have this calm yet overwhelming sense of peace. I knew that I was where I needed to be and to make things even better some of my questions I had had since I was young were finally being answered. One Sunday I even received a blessing and it worked almost instantly. I then knew that this church was true and that I needed to be baptized again in the true church. I hope that my story has helped you in some way! I say all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

How I live my faith

I am a recent convert so I am just beginning my glorious adventure. I do participate in some of the women's activities at church. I also go to the monthly Friday evening events with our ward. I am trying to get my family home meetings going at home. I talk with my children every chance I get about the scriptures and try to relate them to our everyday lives.
