Hi I'm Joe Richards

I am 20 years old, grew up in Syracuse New York, and am on a mission in the Great Idaho Boise Mission! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Im 20 years old and have been serving a mission now for 21 months. I am the 7th of 10 kids. The age range is from 30 to 6 so there is a big age gap. Im hoping to become an architect when I get home. At this moment I am im the Boise East Stake and came from the Meridian stake. I have served in Middleton, Jerome and the Meridian West Stake as well. So because of the mission split in July 2013 I have now served in 3 missions. At home one of my favorite things to do was just to drive around. My mom had an awesome '04 Jeep with a great lift that I was able to drive (and sort of calmed it as mine when i get home) but between my two jobs i would just take that and drive. I worked in a gas station and as the guy who gets the carts at Sams Club. And funny enough i loved both those jobs. When i wasnt working i would do what ever. And over half that time it was playing xbox because i had noting better to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I LOVE JESUS!!!! That is the biggest reason right there. Part of it is I was baptized when I was 8. But that is obviously only the start. My parents were awesome examples for me of what to do and how to live my life but unfortunately like many teenagers I was stupid. As I started High School I started to distance myself from the church. I did some things that I should not have and still suffer the consequences of them. But there was one day I was deciding on whether or not I would go on a mission or if I was even go to stay active in the church. So I was doing what they told me to do and what I ask people to do every day, I read the scriptures and prayed. After doing this for about a week I was sitting on my bed and I got my answer. It wasnt a vision but just a feeling. It was an overpowering felling of love and comfort that told me this was the true church of Christ on the earth once more and that Heavenly Father and Christ will always love me and I should share that knowledge of there love and the forgiveness power of the atonement. So here I am on a mission in Boise Idaho. Not the place people hope to go, but a place that I will always hold close to my heart and would not change for anything.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by believing in Jesus Christ. That is the biggest way to show anyone your faith. Another large part right now is being a missionary. When I at home I taught a class for the church called Gospel essentials, so what that was is just the class that taught the basic stuff. Im glad i was able to do that because in order to grow many times you need to go back to the foundation and expand. Going back to what i said about faith ( I go on tangents a lot) when you have that faith it often becomes over time Love for your savior. It is the love i have and gratitude for what he has done for me i have that dictates how i live my life and the best way to live your faith is by fallowing the example of Christ and doing what is right.
