Hi I'm Sam

I'm a curly-q, poet, reader, swimmer...and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love to laugh and to go on crazy adventures like searching for Edgar Allen Poe's grave (best day ever!). I've always loved having a good time and reading Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolken, J.K. Rowling, and so many other writers. I love writing poetry and hope that one day I will publish my own anthology. I love camping, swimming, biking, hiking, and taking a walk around the park. I'm a curly-q who loves meeting new people and dreams of owning an orphanage when I return from my mission in Baltimore.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church, I relied heavily on my parent's testimonies and I didn't really find out for myself until my second year of college. I had always attended church and thought it was true but I wasn't 100% sure. It wasn't until I sincerely wanted to know if the church was the true restored church of Jesus Christ until I really asked Heavenly Father if it was. I'm a Mormon because I know with all of my heart that this is the restored church of Jesus Christ and that by living the gospel with exact obedience will bring so much happiness and blessings.

How I live my faith

Before my mission, I was attending college, working, and occasionally attending the young single adult ward. It wasn't easy trying to balance all that was going on. My schedule was incredibly chaotic with all of the projects, tests, study groups, hours at work, family, friends, and more. I got to the point where I realized that I was so unhappy because I wasn't reading the Book of Mormon and praying daily. It wasn't until a ton of bricks hit me and I realized that I had to put the gospel first before anything and everything that I did. Slowly, I started to change by reading my scriptures daily and praying every morning and night. Before I knew it, the chaos was gone and I didn't feel like I was being pulled in every direction. Living the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is more than a "just because" reason or only attending on Easter and Christmas. It's a life-style. It means putting Heavenly Father first in all things even when you don't understand why you do certain things. However, so many blessings come from listening to Heavenly Father. For me, going on a mission for a year and half didn't make sense because I was happy where I was at. Well, at least I thought I was. A lot of things happened and, thankfully, Heavenly Father opened my eyes and now I am serving as a full-time missionary in Baltimore, MD. I love being able to have my life 100% focused on sharing and living the gospel. It has been a tremendous blessing and I am so grateful that I am serving right now.
